Positive: The apartment is on the 3rd floor in a 4 floor old house in the pedestrian street (our taxi driver stopped there just to unload our suitcases) in the heart of Marseilles. The quay is a straight 5 minute stroll. In a minute walk you find 2 eating places . The apartment was clean, with a lot of flowers. It looked exactly as in the photos. The host is a considerate person. We had numerous questions and the replies were to come soon. We arrived at the apartment after midnight and got the host's message asking to confirm that we had arrived safely. The host allowed us to check in after midnight and leave the suitcases till noon (an hour after check-out). We met him before leaving and he loaded our suitcases on the taxi (the taxi driver didn't care).
Negative: The three of us (e, a senior woman, my daughter and 1 year old granddaughter) were travelling with 3 heavy suitcases, therefore, it was a real challenge to take them upstairs. Otherwise, we wouldn't have minded the 3rd floor.

Positive: Farid, the person I dealt with was kind, polite, helpful and respectful, even coming to help me carry my bag up all those 60 spiral steps! The location The easy to work washing machine The spaciousness The comfy sofa The vibe of Le Panier
Negative: The dangerous spiral steps with loose tiles The mould in the bathroom The slippery shower cubicle The wobbly kitchen sink tap The kitchen sink is slow to drain The loose dangerous electrical outlets in bedroom and lounge The TV which did not work, even after Farid came and fixed it once The uncomfortable bed- I understand the need to protect the mattress, but having a sheet with plastic attached to it is horrible to sleep on- every time you move it makes a crinkling noise. The fact that you can’t use the room air conditioner because you have to stick the vent pipe out the lounge window, which means you have to leave the window open, which means the outside noise keeps you awake at night, cos there is no window in the bedroom you can use. The lack of any knives and forks and spoons- not much point having a kitchen if you have no cutlery to be able to eat with. The almost unreachably high cupboards in kitchen where glasses and plates are kept- unless you are very tall. If there are upstairs occupants in that apartment, you can hear them sail when they move around.
Summary: Loved Marseille, but the accommodation needs some serious maintenance to make it safer.
