Summary: We stayed for 6 nights in Le Phenix and it was an enjoyable stay. Right on the Saone River and at the entrance to the old town it’s the perfect place for gourmets to stay. We didn’t have the breakfast as it was bit pricey and there are better options nearby.

Summary: The location was great for exploring old Lyon. The rooms were large with beautiful river views. The air conditioning worked great. Breakfast room service was prompt with lots of choices.

Summary: The staff at this hotel was particularly friendly, helpful and accommodating. The location was also great- just to the north of old Lyon, right along the river and an easy walk to most of the sites. The lobby and bar/restaurant area had a very fresh and recently renovated look and was a pleasure to walk through every day. The room itself was a bit dated but large and comfortable. Would definitely recommend.

Summary: Clean and friendly hotel in convenient location for transport and several places of interest. Room we had in building C was dull, lacked natural lighting and artificial lighting was inadequate. No hot drinks facilities in room or drinking water, however cold still and sparkling jugs of water were available free of charge from the bar. Staff were friendly and spoke good English.

Summary: Travelers beware! I booked this hotel through Hotels.com in February 2026 for a July 2026 trip. I had all the reservation information with me but when we got to the hotel they had no record of it. There is no way to know where the breakdown occurred — Hotels.com or Le Phenix — but everything worked out fine thanks to the staff at the hotel in Lyon. Almost immediately they assured us that they would take care of us. Unfortunately, there were no rooms available at Le Phenix but thankfully this hotel is a part of a larger group that operated several others in Lyon. While we waited, they offered us a beverage and were had complimentary glasses of wine. We were going to have to go to another one of their hotels, but we were upgraded to a larger room, given breakfast every morning. Additionally, they paid for our taxi to the new hotel. We stayed at Globe and Cecil in Lyon and it was fabulous. The location was in the heart of the city yet the neighborhood was quiet and within walking distance of important sites, restaurants and shopping. While I will be a little more hesitant to book with Hotels.com I wouldn’t hesitate booking this hotel or any of their others in the future.
