Le Séchoir is named after its past use as a drying oven for prunes, which are still widely produced in the region; it also served as the farm bakery and oven. Standing near to the main farmhouse, Le Séchoir is a detached cottage which has two terraces and a private garden.
The south facing upper terrace (5.4m x 2.5m) opens onto the garden and has a table and chairs and a barbecue. Stairs lead down to larger terrace which enjoys views down the valley.
The living room
Although it appears small from the outside, on the inside it is anything but small. The Living and dining room is over 8 meters long and has French windows with views to the south and west. There is a flat screen TV and UK free-view television channels, a CD Player and Ipod docking station. There is wifi internet access and the whole of the house benefits from oil-fired central heating.
The kitchen
The Kitchen, which is directly off the dining area, is equipped to a very high standard, with a built-in electric oven and gas hob, dishwasher, fridge-freezer, microwave, toaster etc... The kitchen does have a low ceiling at one end, but there is reasonable headroom in the main food preparation areas.
The bedroom & bathroom
The bedroom is directly off the living room. It has a King size bed which can be converted to two singles on request (thank you to inform us 48h before your arrival); there is also a wardrobe, chest of drawers, dressing table and chair.
The Bathroom has a full sized bath plus a large walk in shower, in addition to the sink, bidet and toilet there is a large heated towel-rail/radiator, and a washing machine.
On a total surface of 75m², Le Sechoir, cosy and very well equipped, is the ideal place for excellent and restfull holidays for two.

Summary: The gite has all the necessary facilities and, although close to the owner's house, has its own private terrace. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was spacious.It is ideal for pets as the grounds are extensive and there are plenty of walks and a lake nearby.

Summary: We stayed a week in the beautiful little house and loved every minute. The huge garden, the great pool, the beautiful surroundings. And the silence. It was absolutely quiet, with the sounds of birds, trees and the horses. The dog Zoe, was adorable. Quiet, happy to play with but by no means irritating or noisy. The hosts are great and welcoming, thank you Gerard and Christine! The house is only two kilometers from the lovely village of Issigeac. We had breakfast and a coffee every morning over there at the small terrace of Bar l’Europe, next to the church (bring your own croissants). The location is great for discovering all the lovely villages in the Dordogne.

Summary: Our stay at La Crèche gave us a peaceful home location from which to enjoy the late Summer climate around Bergerac. The standard of facilities and layout of the Gite were well presented with the terrace providing a nice private dining area. The pool is shared with the other Gite on site but most of the time we had the pool to ourselves. The tranquil pool setting has a peaceful view down the fields where you can watch the owners horses at play. Christine and Gerard were lovely hosts and really made our stay welcoming. We have some wonderful memories to reflect on and will definitely return.

Summary: The gite is set in beautiful and extensive grounds in the countryside. It is well equipped and there is a nice, clean swimming pool with a view. Our only problem were the low beams in the kitchen, which we were both constantly banging our heads on! The nearby ancient village of Issigeac is beautiful with a Sunday market that is not to be missed. We enjoyed our stay very much and the owners and their dog were perfect hosts. We hope very much to return to La Barrat in the near future.
