4 Bedroom Villa in Montelovesco, Rancolfo

Nestled in the folds of a hillside, gazing over the Tiber valley below, this gorgeous villa boasts a stylish version of rusticity, where comfort is uncompromised and informal.
The house is entered on the upper level, where the huge all-purpose room spans the full floor with double doors leading to a long front balcony and a side terrace with barbecue.
Four bedrooms and three bathrooms occupy the lower floor, the four-poster master suite opening on to a terrace beside the pool.
The space:
Completely private, uniquely individual, and superbly secluded, yet within easy reach of a medley of medieval towns, this family villa in Umbria is perhaps the ultimate escapist bolt-hole.
The 3km access road to the villa is a typical Italian white road, i.e. a gravel track so careful driving is recommended. We maintain it every year but sometimes a rainstorm can create an uneven surface so please bear this in mind. A low slung sporty car would present challenges!
An English/Italian speaking representative in Italy will be available by phone during your stay.
The pool is open from mid May to end of September. Outside these dates, the pool can be opened on request for an extra charge.
The wifi internet is via ADSL and like any countryside service, can be intermittent.
A complimentary travel cot and a high chair are available on request.
The cottage downhill from the main villa is owned by a friend of ours. He may be renting it separately during your stay. The cottage is totally separate from the main villa but we allow access to it via the side steps next to the farmer’s field. Apart from this the cottage doesn’t share anything with the main villa.

Summary: Nice big house with many possibilities. We enjoyed the view from the house and hiking in the area. The only minus is the road up to the house.

Summary: Our week at the villa was everything we had hoped it would be. The house just worked for us - incredible view, comfortable beds, fabulous pool right by the house (with butterflies and bumble bees as constant companions due to the wonderful lavender bushes, geraniums etc), wonderful open living-dining area with seamless access to multiple balconies for the six of us to flow naturally between hanging out together and enjoying quiet time with a book or the view. The wifi worked great, even for our youtube-streaming teenagers. Easy access (45mins or less) to Assisi, Gubbio, Perugia. The house handled the heat (up to 40 degrees Celsius) amazingly well - we just opened up at night and closed up in late morning). The drive up the white roads was intimidating at first, but we acclimated pretty quickly - just putter up the hill in first or second with minimal use of the clutch, and per the owner's instructions try to avoid using low clearance vehicle (our Jeep Renegade handled the hill better than our friends' little VW compact). We can't recommend this place more for a relaxing vacation in the countryside.

Summary: We were a group of 4 adults and 3 children. The Villa and it’s location are simply stunning, it’s completely by itself and has everything you could want or need for your break. The long driveway can be a bit tedious if your making repeat trips (we came for a wedding with multiple events) but that’s the only complaint we had. We will definitely return when we can spend more time in the Villa itself.
