Renovated and furnished in a traditional style, this private, spacious comfortable barn conversion is ideal for an extended families or two families holidaying together.
La Grange has its own private entrance & parking. Own garden area, lawn games. Furnished patio with BBQ, cushioned sun loungers, fenced sparkling pool (10 x 5m) with floats
Large airy rooms and plenty of outdoor space, you don't need to travel as there is lots to do on site & in the local area within walking distance.
We have a boules court, badminton, volleyball, and a number of adult leisure bicycles (please bring your own helmets)
Bed linen and bath and hand towels provided. Please bring your own pool towels

A short stroll down into St Estephe and you will find a bakery and a bar.
There are local shops & supermarkets only 5 & 9 km.
Local Area: The beautiful lake at St Estephe, 1.5km, has a beach and defined swimming area. You can walk around the lake on shady level footpaths and cross the end of the lake on the 'bac' ( hand operated ferry).
In high season there is a life guard and free canoes & kayaks. Boardwalks, picnic areas, beach volley ball, cafés and a bar are at the lakeside. Restaurant. Free tennis court and boules area.
Local horse riding and fishing can be booked.
Local lake fishing by permit.
There are good restaurants within a few kilometres.
St Estèphe has a post office, bakery, and bars
The town of Piégut, 5km, has all main facilities and a huge Wednesday morning market.
Nontron, 9km, has a variety of large supermarkets, all main facilities and a Saturday morning market. Renowned knife factory - open to the public.
The winery of St Sornin is an easy 25 min drive - lovely for tasting before you buy.
Brantôme, the 'Venice of the Dordogne', 30mins, restaurants, châteaux, caves, canoeing, boat rides and a large Friday morning market.

Summary: We had a great week. Julie and Eddie are fab hosts. House was immaculately clean and well stocked for 8 guests. Kids spent most of the week in the pool which was well maintained. Lots of great walks and the lake nearby. Looking forward to coming back next year!!!

Summary: Thank you Julie and eddy for the amazing break. The house is perfect to enjoy time with family and kids. The garden and swimming pool are safe, very clean and very quiet. We were two family with a total of 5 kids. The house is big enough and all appliances needed are in it. Julie and Edward are very helpful and discret. We will definitely recommend to everyone looking for a quiet and quality family time.

Summary: What a really fantastic place! Doreen and Tony are great hosts, so helpful and attentive. We were 3 couples and 2 singles and had the greatest time. The swimming pools were glorious. and the well stocked living areas spacious and very comfortable. The market in Piegut and Brantome are a joy to visit. Quiet peaceful area with a beautiful lake with boating/swimming 15 minutes walk away. Spotlessly clean, spacious bedrooms. Boules, archery, fenced in paddock a delight from the day we moved in. Would recommend it to anyone and we're definitely going back next year-Thank you Doreen and Tony

Summary: This farmhouse is situated in attractive, green, rolling countryside. The ground floor rooms are very spacious, although a little dark, as would be expected for a building of its age. The bedrooms were all spacious and comfortable. The views from the garden (at the front of the property) are lovely. The house was very clean, and we received a warm welcome from the owners, Doreen & Tony. They offered to look after our dog, which they did for a good few hours when we went on a trip. We also tried our hand at archery with Tony, which was interesting. The garden is well fenced for the dog, with the pool in its own enclosed area. In addition, the paddock was well set up with facilities for various games, space for the dogs to play and for archery. In the immediate area there are pleasant walks, pretty villages, and good shopping facilities for food. Overall, it was a very relaxing place to stay, and I would recommend it.

Summary: The property was very clean and well equipped.Our hosts Doreen and Tony were very helpful and friendly,we had a lovely welcome which included wine,milk,butter,lovely french bread and a delicious pot of Doreen's homemade jam,tea and coffee all of which is a tremendous help when you arrive because it gives you time to do a grocery shop at your leisure.They helped us by booking restaurants and places of interest which can be a bit difficult if you are not french speaking! We recommend Restaurant L Auberge de Merigaud both for the restaurant and the pizza's all made by the lovely french lady owner who cooks it all herself. Also La Charrue owned by a british couple where you can get a good steak and chips british style, with some entertainment thrown in on the right night! It's also a nice place to take a caravan etc on there site swimming pool included,well kept and the folk are very friendly and welcoming.The local lake is beautiful and very close.There are beautiful lakes in front of the property which you can enjoy from the balcony,and there are many more locally which you can fish in.The markets were good especially at Brantome where you can enjoy a lovey boat ride up the river.We also enjoyed very much time spent with Tony playing boules and having a go at the archery.Can't praise Doreen and Tony enough,wonderful hosts,the best yet! Summary: We had 2 great weeks in La Petite Maison with 4 adults and 3 children. The grounds are perfect for the children the swimming pool excellent and the house delightful. It was plenty big enough for all of us and great for separating the families as needed. The area is great with the swimming lake and bar close and bigger towns a small drive away. Our boys adored the swimming pool and the bikes so we spent a lot of time doing those! We would definitely recommend the place and would seriously consider going back. Oh and a big thank you to Tony for his Archery lessons!

Summary: We were 2 families, 8 people from 13 years to ?? We spent 2 weeks in the gite and it was a wonderful relaxing holiday. The gite is situated in a very quiet and beautiful place, spacious and well equipped for a group of people like us, both inside and outside. The house is well maintained and and everything is very clean. The holiday was mostly spent relaxing at the pool, enjoying the fantastic french food, walks in the area and swimming in the lake in St. Estephe. The owners were very helpful with everything at any time. They suggested good places to eat, arranged horseriding, gave lessons in Achery, took one of us to the doctor and they even fixed my husbond shoe :-) They are so nice and discreet and really made us feel comfortable. Summary: I have to say that the choice of La Grange was not all chance. We were a group of 9 long-standing friends, the ladies having worked together in the dim and distant past (the late 50s/early 60s) but nevertheless the choice of our friends living nearby could not have been better for us. Doreen and Tony swiftly joined in the reunion and were extremely helpful - Doreen's jam is legendary and the welcome pack was just that - welcome! A lovely, comfortable house in beautiful surroundings overlooking the lovely lakes, with an exclusive pool - what could be nicer? The surrounding area is lovely and do get Doreen to recommend auberges for meals. We have been to the area before but there is always something new to see and do. We had very hot weather at the start (40degrees plus) so the pool was a godsend and also the barbecue. The premises were very clean and welcoming and we fitted 12 around the table with no problems. Thank you, Doreen and Tony, for having the foresight to buy such a lovely place and to our local friend Maggie for putting it our way.

Summary: We spent 2 weeks at La Grange and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We were a group of 6 adults and 4 kids ranging in age from 2 to 14 and the property was perfect for us. The owners Tony and Doreen were very welcoming and helpful and there if we needed them. The property was very well equipped in every respect and Doreen even managed to fulfill our strange requests for odd cooking implements! The kitchen was a fabulous place to cook and eat in with its large dining table and we spent a lot of time in the pool and barbecue area. The place was spotlessly clean and in a lovely quiet location. Having archery lessons with Tony was a bonus as it was something none of our party had done before. Having a private pool was fantastic and it was big enough for us all to share and have fun. In fact we spent much of our holiday in and around the pool. There is a huge library of films in the property so no shortage of things to watch at night and the balcony area was a lovely place to sit and relax over a glass or two or a game of cards! The bikes came in very handy for the fit members of our party who explored the surrounding areas while we lounged. The on site pushchair was very handy for our 2 year old when out and about. I can't praise La Grange and the owners highly enough and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to family and friends. It's a beautiful property in a beautiful settiing. We're heading to the South of France this year and if La Grange could be transported there I would choose it over a thousand other gites in a second.

Summary: Family group of 5 (incl one teenage friend), and we had a very relaxing holiday .Weather was mixed but the gite was clean , comfortable and well supplied with games and video etc . Nearby town of Nontron we grew to really like ,small but quite pretty and with a good selection of shops and reasonable selection of restaurants . The small hamlet of St Estephe was very close and had a nice cafe and reasonable shop, and the nearby lake was well equippped for swimming etc . Relaxing , quiet countryside of woodsand fields .Our hosts were perfect -interesting, available when needed , but never intrusive . Cycling was great -lots of charming villages and little-visited attractions . One general holiday point -I Never quite understood why the long drives eg to the ferry took me much longer than other visitors -I may be in a real minority who worry about sticking to speed limits! Really recommend gite and area for the quieter, country type of holiday . For lots of glitz and parties -go elsewhere?
