Positive: I was so apprehensive when I realised we'd booked a place with no ensuite toilet, but in the end this was not at all an issue: the bathrooms were close to the room, big fluffy white robes and slippers were provided, and most importantly, the facilities were absolutely sparkling clean, with brilliant showers - really tip top. The bedrooms were very clean and we had wonderful high-ceiling'd exposed-stone adjoining rooms for us and our teenager. Great stay, thank you.

Negative: Despite the large pink sign in the middle of the courtyard pointing to the Accueil, we managed not to be able to find the check-in for a little while. If you park in the main parking area, go up the large stone steps to the courtyard and head across the courtyard to the left where the gift shop is - it's in there!

Positive: The room was beautiful, and clean. The atmosphere was quiet and perfect for reflection. There was no tv. That was appreciated!

Negative: The motion sensors for the lights in the stair wells were too brief . I was walking with a cane and it would go off too early for my stairs ascent or descent. Fortunately, my husband was with me .

Summary: We loved this space. The whole experience was rich in history and culture.

Positive: Fabulous location and architecture, certainly a unique property. Easy flat walk to historic centre.

Negative: Shared bathroom across hall, this is so unusual these days that it should be clearer in the description, especially for 86€ à night no breakfast. Some mould on walls eg where headboard would be and in bathrooms.

Positive: Amazing conversion of the former abbey accommodation. Our bedroom was small but comfortable off a big corridor. We opted for our own bathroom but another time would go for the shared bathroom option. Plenty of facilities with good privacy. Breakfast was good.

Negative: Had to check in at the shop. Saintes on a Sunday evening was v quiet and no restaurant open

Positive: It is such a peaceful place to stay in a beautiful city. The beds are so comfortable and a very spacious room. Towels, dressing gowns and slippers are also provided. There is also a massive car park so parking is no problem but also within walking distance to the town centre.

Negative: Nothing

Summary: Excellent, comfortable beds so had a lovely sleep and a lovely breakfast in the morning.
