4 Bedroom House in Forest Lakes, Bayfield

Enjoy the private community Lake Simpatico just steps from your front door. Huge balcony overlooking the lake and surrounding mountains.
Located at the end of a cul-de-sac, this home is peaceful, spacious, family and pet friendly. Hiking trails take off from the property. Two Kayaks included! We also offer a grill, two tvs, guitars, board games, a record player, books, and a fenced back patio.
Brand new remodel with gorgeous finishes! Fully equipped space with two living rooms and a huge private deck. There is also a fenced in back yard, so you can bring your pets. (Pet fee is an additional $70). Portable AC unit in the King suite. In-floor radiant heat controlled by three separate thermostats. Cozy, comfortable, clean, and plenty of room to spread out. Guest limit of 7 people. Any additional people must be approved by owner, and will be a $50 per person, per night fee.
The gorgeous kitchen is stocked with essentials and recently remodeled with stainless steel appliances and beautiful granite counters. The bathrooms are newly refinished with brass fixtures and nice showers. Come enjoy this new, clean lodge in an unparalleled setting!
Just minutes to Vallecito Lake and Lemon Lake. Situated between Bayfield and Durango, this is the perfect rental to escape the bustle and still stay close enough to the resources and outdoor recreational opportunities!
I live part time in the bottom unit. There is a separate entrance and no shared spaces. The deck and back patio are exclusively reserved for Little Bear Lodge renters.
The basement level, the hot tub, and the garage are owner's use only and off limits to Little Bear Lodge guests.

THE AREA:
Hike, Fish, Ski, Bike, Kayak, Explore, Hunt, Relax!
Forest Lakes is a lovely neighborhood surrounded by the San Juan National Forest. Little Bear Lodge sits at the end of a private road, right alongside Lake Simpatico. There is a trail around the lake, where locals enjoy walking their furry friends, snowshoeing, fishing, paddle boarding, kayaking, biking, birdwatching, and enjoying the scenery. You can fish (or ice fish!) for smallmouth bass and trout. The setting is very peaceful and quiet, with deer and other wildlife roaming freely throughout the community.
You can walk from the front door to the west end of the lake, where you will find a dam that is great for sledding in the winter! Once the snow melts, there is also a playground with an adjacent basketball court and covered picnic tables.
There are several hiking, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, and biking trailheads located in the community. Please don’t park on the side of the road. There is free parking at the trailheads.
Bayfield is about 8 minutes south, and offers a small market, a few restaurants, and some lovely little shops. Forest Lakes is between Durango (30 mins) and Pagosa Springs (50 mins). You will be just minutes to Vallecito and Lemon Reservoirs! Navajo Lake is about an hour southeast. You are about 1 hour south of Purgatory Ski Resort and about 1.5 hours north of Wolf Creek Ski Area. A quick access into the Weminuche wilderness is at the end of County Road 500 just past Lake Vallecito.

Summary: We found it to be a very comfortable and spacious home, with nicely furnished rooms and several gathering areas, both inside and outside. It was quite pleasant to sit on the front deck and take in the view. The owner was very accessible and responsive.

Summary: Very nice house and location. We had a slight glitch but the owner was very helpful in trying to figure it out which did not happen but it was the company not her, who could not get to the house in time for our visit. We were offered a slight amount of the cost which was very nice of the owner.

Summary: Our group of six (two adults and four children ages 10 to 17) really enjoyed our stay at Little Bear Lodge. The property is spacious, bright, and well equipped, and the setting is very beautiful. The deer who visited every morning and evening made the experience especially magical. Magenta is responsive and thoughtful, an easy property owner with whom to work. Lake Simpatico is more like a pond, but we braved the mud to launch our SUPs and the property's kayaks and enjoyed the experience. We definitely would like to return in the winter.
