Positive: Very nice house with great facilities. We especially like the onsen that you can book for private time. Location is great if you are visiting Lake Shirakaba. It's probably the best around the area.
Negative: There are stairs within the house. It's not convenient when you have large luggages. It will be great to have laundry facilities too but it's not essential for a short stay.

Positive: The rooms were very clean, quite big and very comfortable. The public bath was exceptional. The breakfast was simple and delicious.
Negative: The hotel was great, but the whole area of Shirakaba Lake is quite distant and all the surrounding area is very dark during the night.

Positive: It was a small pension, only have 6 or 7 rooms so it was quite quiet during the stay. It locates at the quiet side of the lake so you really need a car. I had dinner at our first night there, the food quality was outstanding and not expensive at all giving this quality and service. The private onsen (hotspring) is exceptionally big and very comfortable. Room is very big comparing to regular hotel room, even big hotel room. Staff were very friendly and cheerful, I like them a lot. Within 1 hour drive, you can access a lot of beautiful places. I stayed there for 3 nights and not nearly enough to enjoy the surrounding areas.
Negative: Nothing significant, but I would like them to change the lock in the private onsen room. It was a bit difficult to lock. There was a big Lawson around that area, but if you want to buy things like fruits from supermarket, the closest one is at least a 20-25 minutes drive, but it is really not a problem.
Summary: Excellent stay, will definitely visit there when I go to that area again.
