Book your Wild and Wonderful retreat now! An ideal mountain getaway for some R&R or your favorite mountain activities. Canoe, hike, fish, hunt, ski or relax in front of the warm fire. This home is nestled on a 3-acre property with beautiful views of the forest. You will have access to the South Branch (.6 miles to river from house.) Potomac River for water activities. Hike to the state owned river access to go fishing and cook out.
We do have 2 kayaks and one canoe but we must be notified for their use. We need to meet safety requirements for gear. If you want to canoe or kayak with a larger group the Trough General Store is located just 2 miles upriver and has canoe rentals; they also offer drop off and pick up services. Little Mountain Hideaway is a 2,400 square foot cabin with 2 levels of complete living space with a kitchen on each level. Each kitchen is fully equipped with refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, electric range, cookware, plates, and utensils. The property has modern amenities including central heat, air conditioning, washer/dryer, streaming tv, internet and reverse osmosis filtered drinking water. A new soft water system has also been installed. We also have a chair lift for older guests to access lower level. Weight limit is 300 lbs. for the unit. Please notify us if you need to use this. The house has beds to sleep 9 people. Use the 2 car attached garage to load and unload your belongings. We have just added a Tesla 48 amp charger. In the garage for our guests to use.
The main level has 3 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms. The master bedroom has a queen bed with a full bathroom that includes a stand up shower. There are 2 additional bedrooms with 2 twin beds in each room next to a full bathroom. Walk out of the fully equipped kitchen to a large back deck (56' x 12') to grill or spend time with your family. The lower level has a full kitchen, master bedroom (queen bed) and a full master bath. The master bathroom has a shower and an Jacuzzi soaking tub with jets. The open living/dining space has a wood burning fireplace to enjoy each evening. We need to be notified if are going to use fireplace. I will walk you through proper procedure to use it. We also have a local person that can supply you with firewood for a fee delivered. I can give you his number, just message me through the app. The lower level has a walkout patio to access a fire pit in the backyard to roast marshmallows.
This property is 8 miles south of historic Romney, West Virginia. It is located 2 hours from Washington DC and is within driving distance to WISP and Canaan Valley Ski resorts. Check out some great hiking or sightseeing at Seneca Rocks and Dolly Sods. Explore Seneca Caverns and Smoke Hole Caverns. Drive over to Lost River State Park, Cacapon State Park or Blackwater Falls. Sit back and relax on the local Potomac Eagle Scenic Railroad train excursion through the valley of the Appalachian Mountains.
