Positive: The owner is lovely and I had a great time chatting with her. Also there was an option to buy breakfast and I'm wrapt that I did, it was amazing!!

Negative: The accommodation was in a different building up the street from the owner and I was the only guest so it was a bit lonely and slightly freaky wandering about it by myself on a cold dark night!

Positive: The host was very friendly and could talk English well. She gave us a bigger traditional room, which was super nice! We loved the room, which had two futons, microwave, heater, aircon, TV and kitchen. We slept very well, specially enjoying a very rainy day there. We extended our stay two nights later. The host gave us two cups of hot ichijiku, an autumn fruit. She made us feel comfy and happy here!

Negative: Having to leave Itoigawa :(

Summary: Itoigawa isn't a touristy place, which we liked. And this was a great place to stay here!

Positive: the host was the sweetest. my friend and i only stayed for a night but we really felt welcomed from the moment we stepped through the door. if you want a warm japanese home experience, this really is the place to go. the host even offered to take us to the train station. it really did feel like we were staying at grandmas house! next time i’m in japan, i will definitely have to come back to stay :)
