2 Bedroom Cabin in Golden

The space
Curl up under a blanket by the wood stove after an adventurous day out in the mountains. This cabin is across the road from our working ranch. Yes, in the distance we have roosters that crow, cows that moo and livestock guardian dogs that bark. We don't hear them, but probably because they are the soothing sounds of the ranch to us. Some nights are louder than others. If you are a light sleeper you may hear farm noises at night. There are no city noises here, so you may also here the sounds of other local wildlife. It's the real deal here. There is also no light pollution so on a clear night you can even see the Milky Way! There is a master bedroom located on the main floor with a queen bed. The upstairs loft includes one queen bed and one twin bed. Comfy mattresses by Endy. The loft is accessible by ladder and is a great place for kids to have their own space or additional adults. A portable crib is available on request. USB chargers are located near all beds and other locations in the cabin. The main floor has a well equipped kitchen including a full size oven and fridge. A French Press and coffee and tea with real cream is included. There is no dishwasher or microwave. As we are encouraging people to come and getaway from the usual distractions of life, we have specifically opted not to include Wi-Fi. In lieu of Wi-Fi we have included board and card games. A Bose bluetooth speaker sytem is in the cabin. From construction to operation this cabin has been sustainably and eco-friendly built. Toilets consume an astonishing amount of water, so to preserve our environment we have chosen to use composting toilet technology. The compost ends up back out on our pastures. A ceiling fan is installed in the cabin but there is no air conditioning. This cabin is your base for backcountry skiing, downhill skiing, dog sledding, mountain biking, hiking, snowmobiling, climbing, whitewater rafting, paragliding, horseback riding and many more adventures!
* Our intent is provide ski trails and hiking trails on the ranch in the future. Currently we are not set up to do so. At this time until we have better ranch fencing, we cannot accept pets as interactions with our ranch animals from visiting pets is not a good scenario for anyone. Thanks for understanding *

Please note google maps is not accurate in our area. We are approximately 20 minutes West of Golden.
Guest may access the full property on the lower side of the road. The high side of the road is our working ranch and is off limits.
Interaction with guests
We are an energetic busy family. With all sorts of family activities and operating a working ranch and construction business. We are busy for sure! We will be available by phone for emergencies but may not always be near the cabin.

Please leave the ranch house as clean as when you arrived as possible.

We live in a bear country.
Both black and grizzly bears come through the property. Grizzly's sometimes pass here in mid-May to eat the dandelions. There has never been a problem with bears in our property. For safety, do not leave food or garbage outside that attracts bears.
Make noise and walk outside in group of 2 or more.
If you find yourself close to a grizzly or black bear slowly back away. Having a bear spray also comes in handy.
Bears are wild and beautiful part of life here in our valley. It is extremely rare that anyone in the valley is threatened or harmed by a bear.

Summary: We stayed in this cabin for a week and used it as our "base camp" to explore Golden and the surrounding National Parks. The cabin is lovely and the hosts were very attentive . We would defintively stay there again.

Summary: Property is beautifully maintained and amazingly crafted log cabin. The mountain view for our particular cabin was only in the front and not off the back as we initially thought when booked, this was disappointing, however still beautiful. If you are nervous of dogs be aware of three very large lap dogs that may and come visit. Don’t be scared by their bear collars as they are for their protection i am assuming. The cabin location to numerous fishing spots, park and access to FSR roads is excellent . If you are interested in exploring the rivers, lakes and mountains in a place that is quiet and off the beaten path, this is where to go.

Summary: We had an great time at this remote cabin. Very clean and it provided everything we needed. The hosts answered our questions before the trip promptly and friendly. The woodstove was very easy to use and added greatly to the atmosphere. We will be booking this place again.

Summary: We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Bison cabin. It was a perfect hideaway during our ski trip and accommodated our family of 4 perfectly. The one thing I would suggest is one more chair in the living room area.

Summary: This is a great little property that’s only a short drive outside of Golden. It was quiet, clean and comfortable for our family of four (2 adults and 2 kids). The kids loved having their own space in the loft and we used the fireplace daily to help keep warm and create a relaxing ambiance. We were originally booked to stay in town but pivoted when we saw this was available. Boy were we happy with our decision and there’s a good chance we’ll be back! Thank you Chad and Evie for looking after us and sharing this little gem.

Summary: This is a darling cabin! Evie has decorated it to feel comfy and homey, with a well-equipped kitchen. As noted in their Listing, there is no TV or Wi-Fi... but we did get a weak cell signal. Bring your iPod and plug into the Bose speaker provided, which has great sound! The cabin is located 20 kms west of Golden.... so not close enough to head into town for the evening.... but nicely removed from traffic, just a couple of kms off the Hwy. If using both bedrooms, note that the loft upstairs is accessed by a ladder (so plan on coming down the ladder in the night, if you need to use the washroom) The foam mattresses on both beds were comfy, but a bit firm. A 2" memory foam on top of each mattress would make a big difference, for those of us that like a bit softer bed! If you are looking for peace and quiet, and to "unplug" for a day or a few days, you will love this cabin! The deck out back is a really nice feature, overlooking the woods! Communication with the owners was excellent, and the pre-arrival emails from Chad were very helpful. We gave it 4 stars instead of 5, mostly because of the comfort level of the mattresses, and because the ladder to the loft was a bit of a challenge in the night. Linda & Willie - Salmon Arm BC
