Summary: Location is beautiful... easy drive from 81 on private property that is a 5-minute walk to the Jefferson National Forest (dirt road and lovely trails). The property is beautiful (yard, creek, bridge, porch, caboose...a great little place!)... but TLC is needed. Recent storm Helene knocked down many trees that fell into the creek... covering some of the view and use of the creek (not so much an issue for us since the water was cold but FYI for warmer months). Bathroom in the caboose (advertised working in the VRBO listing) was not working (not a big issue, but still not as expected). On the surface, home was clean with a good amount of bedding. However, there was a strong musty/mold smell throughout that dissipated (but never left) over time with use of gas heater. There was visible mold on the lower part of the desk in main bedroom, throughout the inside bathroom drawers, and on the door of main bedroom. Kitchen had all supplies that were needed and the layout of the house allowed for the family to always be together. Good wifi, if you are working away from home. Overall, the property is warm and inviting and has been well loved. A nice rental for a family.

Summary: The family loved the property. The caboose was great for pictures. We don’t get to see the ducks but saw lots of little fish. We were able to cook every night with no issues. We grilled out and used the stove/over. Would stay again if we are in the area.
