Le Pailler is a lovely 18th century house with characteristic local charm. Recently renovated, it is situated at the highest point of the village. Olargues is a small medieval village of authentic beauty that has been labelled as one of most attractive villages in France. The house has been owned by our family for five generations. It has a large living room with fireplace, open kitchen and a dinette on the ground floor. The mezzanine floor offers two large open rooms. Ideal for couples or families up to 5 persons. Its calm, shadowy garden is spacious and makes for enjoyable leisure time. In the village you will find a grocery store, bakeries, a chemist, a medical practice and a small farmers market. Restaurants and terraces invite you to enjoy wines and specialties of the region. We offer bike rentals, bicycle tours and transport from and to the airport (at additional fee).

Summary: This extraordinary location on top of the beautiful village of Olargues is an open one room gallery house with a steep staircase and a nice outside area. Not recommend for light sleepers, since the bell tower nearby rings twice the hour.

Summary: It became quickly apparent that the property had no meaningful internet connectivity. It would work for a few minutes per hour or not at all. We complained often to the owner but he was unable to fix the problem accept to say that it was probably our fault for using too many devices ( we had two phones and an ipad between the two of us... not all used at the same time!). My guess is that it might have something to do with the internet package he had at the property or the ancient router that was present. Either way it should not be advertised as having that service. Apart from this major inconvenience, it should be made clear that the property has an incredibly steep stair to the upper level (not pictured on the site) that in my opinion is not fit for purpose and I doubt would pass any kind of building control due to the steepness and very narrow step width. As there is only one toilet downstairs it makes for a dangerous trip to the toilet in the night. We left before we were scheduled and checked into a hotel in Herepian down the road. Overall the property had the potential to be nice but was let down by a poor refurbishment and cost cutting for the stairs that should have had a half landing to make it usable. A lack of joined up thinking for the toilets that should have been available on both floors would also have made it more usable. I am sure this property would be acceptable to the locals but if you are used to traveling and have seen how it should be done then you may be disappointed.
