"Luna Mesa" is a beautiful unique modern architectural steel post and beam adobe straw-bale southwest home with a guest casita and studio which sits on 17 acres at the base of Mesa Verde National Park. A perfect special hidden gem, the "Moon Dancer" Guest Casita/Cottage accommodates one to four. Please note in our efforts to provide a safe stay we require guests, family, and friends to be vaccinated for Covid and we have been vaccinated. We follow strict Covid cleaning protocols as well. The cozy contemporary straw-bale adobe fully equipped casita/cottage with a full kitchen, dining area, 3/4 bath, loft queen bedroom, living room with a memory foam queen pull out sleeper sofa, gas fireplace stove and 4K Smart TV/DVD Player, will give you a special central location to experience the world of the Ancient Pueblo People and see all the wonderful sites in the Four Corners region of our beautiful Southwest. Sage Brush, Pinon, Juniper and Cedar on 17 private acres with forever views of the La Plata Mountains and Mesa Verde. The National Park Entrance Visitor Center is a short five-minute drive, less than 2 miles away. Luna Mesa is only 35 minutes away from the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Train Station in Durango. The arts district community of Mancos, Cortez, Canyon of the Ancients, Hovenweep, Lowery Ruins, Four Corners Monument, Canyon de Chelly, Chimney Rock, Aztec Ruins, Bridges National Monument, Canyon Lands, Telluride, Arches National Park and Moab, UT are all within short drives from "Luna Mesa" in Mancos, CO. Touring and outdoors enthusiasts will enjoy the peaceful secluded location with a relaxing hot tub soak after exploring the region, that has forever mountain, mesa, and valley views as well as luminous moonlight and dark sky starry nights. Summary: Do not miss an opportunity to stay here. The adobe casita is so charming, almost as much as Rhonda and Dennis your hosts. I usually prefer privacy with vacation rentals, but Rhonda and Dennis made our stay even better. Let them know of anything you need. They are delighted to help. The property is absolutely beautiful with room to wander, many lovely shots for photos, and a field of prairie dogs to boot!

Summary: Luna Mesa casita was a unique and lovely spot for us to stay while enjoying Mesa Verde National Park. The last time we stayed in a home set up like this (one bed in a loft, sofa bed downstairs), my children were three years smaller, so the cozy quarters took some getting used to, but we settled in quickly. The cookies and sourdough bread waiting for us helped with this, I think. :-) One of my favorite things about this home is the sunrise views from the kitchen window/front porch. And it is even closer to Mesa Verde than I realized from the listing, which made it easy to get to our morning Long House tour in plenty of time. We weren't able to use the grill because of fire danger, but the kitchen is well equipped so we were easily able to pivot to indoor cooking. Potential renters should note that the home is reached by a well maintained gravel road, there's no dishwasher or full-sized stove in the kitchen, and the owners' home is right outside the back door of the casita. We enjoyed meeting Rhonda and Dennis (and Blink the cat and the dogs Lad and Maggie), but if you're looking for a more private, no-contact getaway, this might not be the right spot for you. For us, this home was an excellent spot to act as our base for exploring Mesa Verde. Were we to return, we would definitely try to stay here again!

Summary: This property drips character and has wonderful, very helpful hosts. Rhonda gives lots of good advice on restaurants, places to visit, etc. It is literally in the shadow of Mesa Verde. The one caveat is that the bedroom is in the loft, which is accessed by a kiva style ladder that one must have the ability to negotiate.

Summary: This beautiful property is situated below the entrance to Mesa Verde with wonderful views of the surrounding mountains to include the picturesque La Plata mountains. The starry nights are best enjoyed while soaking in the hot tub which is located in the beautifully landscaped courtyard. The cozy strawbale cottage makes for a restful nights sleep. And finally the hosts were very kind and attentive to all our needs, as well as being experts on all the local activities. Truly one of the best getaway weekends we’ve ever had, wish we had time to stay longer! Highly recommended!

Summary: We enjoyed our time at Luna Mesa. Rhonda and Dennis were extremely welcoming and helpful, and were willing to give us trip pointers as well as teach our kids about the Mesa Verde area. The guest house is comfortable with the added charm of being an adobe house with artwork from the area by Rhonda herself. The jacuzzi with the stars and full moon was the cherry on top!

Summary: My husband and I came up to stay at Luna Mesa for a week to get away and the space is perfect. The casita is very cozy, the pictures do not do it justice. It is very well equipped with anything you might need. The kitchen is stocked with all the basics you could need. Rhonda was an amazing host and stocked the kitchen with some great breakfast option and brownies! The bathroom is spacious and has plenty lot of hot water. The living room/ dining room is open and has tons of windows so you can see the views all around. The loft area is equally and cozy and the bed is very comfortable. The fire place creates all the heat you need and adds extra charm. We spent most of our time doing activities in Durango, which is an easy and beautiful 25-30 minute drive. Mancos Brewery is a must try if you drive into Durango. We will definitely be back soon! Thank you Rhonda!
