Karen & Rob welcome you to Le Banquet, a charming 200 year old ensemble of three luxury homes nestling deep in the Vezere valley.
Awarded 4 STARS by the Départemental Du Tourisme De La Dordogne and voted 'Best family self-catering holiday in France' by The Gaurdian newspaper.
In the most popular part of the Dordogne and on the edge of the world famous village of Les Eyzies these charming homes at Le Banquet have been lovingly restored preserving their character.
A pretty river runs through the estate and helps to make the extensive grounds and magnificent gardens at Le Banquet an ideal place for relaxation, with ample shade provided by the apple & pear trees.
The large 40ft x 20ft swimming pool & toddler’s splash pool are positioned to gain maximum hours of sunshine with plenty of sun beds, tables & chairs and umbrellas.
Children are well catered for with acres of space to play football, cricket or rounders and a play area with swings, slide, basketball net & boules court.
The games barn houses table tennis, table football, pool, darts, hopscotch, giant connect 4, loads of board games & plenty of toys for the toddlers. It also houses an extensive DVD library, and an information corner with hundreds of leaflets & books on places to visit and things to do & see in the wonderful local area.
Each home is extremely well equipped with all modern comforts including UK satellite TV, DVD player, washing machine, dishwasher, Nespresso coffee machine, etc. together with its own terrace, outside furniture and BBQ.
For the little ones, we are more than happy to supply cot & bedding or bed guard, high chair or booster chair, changing mat, baby monitor, 2 step up, potty, night lights, stroller, plastic bowls, plates cutlery etc all included in the price and please rest assured that all of our baby equipment is nearly new and very clean. There are also top and bottom stair gates in La Forge & La Fermette.
All of the properties are connected to FREE WiFi
We provide for you, starter Nespresso pods, tea bags, sugar, spice rack full of different spices, salt & pepper, olive oil, vinegar, foil, cling film, freezer bags, washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, bin bags, all cleaning materials etc.
We also provide all linen, towels, tea towels etc.
LE TOURNESOL AT LE BANQUET - your wonderful riverside gite which sleeps 4 is situated all on one level with a beautiful walled terrace and is the smaller of the 3 beautiful properties at Le Banquet.
This pretty gite sympathetically restored sits 'tucked away' just below the courtyard with it's own walled terrace with BBQ and outside furniture.
The spotless modern kitchen has old oak beams and exposed stonework and is equipped with all modern conveniences everything you could possibly need to prepare your meals – a real home from home.
The stunning living and dining room is tastefully decorated & comfortably furnished, a wonderful room in which to kick back and relax. French doors lead onto the terrace for outside living.
Two pretty beamed bedrooms one with a double bed & the other with twin beds both have views to the river & beautiful gardens.
There is a fully tiled spotless shower room.
All of our cottages are very well equipped, including UK TV, DVD player, dishwasher, washing machine, Nespresso coffee maker etc.

Summary: We enjoyed a very pleasant week at Le Tournesol. The location is excellent with an abundance of attractions within easy distance, Karen and Rob were friendly and welcoming, and the property was spotless, comfortable and very well equipped. We were a bit unfortunate with the weather, but on the sunnier days, we took advantage of the lovely gardens and were always able to enjoy some sun, either in our little courtyard or beside the brook. Given the chilly weather during our stay, we did find the property rather cool and really needed the heaters that were provided, but I imagine that as the temperatures rise over summer it would provide a perfect haven from the heat. All in all this was a great base for exploring the Dordogne. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend a stay here.

Summary: We had the most wonderful holiday at Rob and Karen's beautiful property surrounded by some of the most spectacular views. Our accommodation was delightful and we had access to a very well equipped games room and large swimming pool. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend Rob and Karen's property to anyone wishing to holiday in the area.

Summary: Both the location and the quality of accommodation was superb.Suits all ages whether young or more mature ! Our grandchildren were never stuck for something to do. The swimming pool and games room were of the highest quality. While Ian and I enjoyed the stunning scenery and sampling the local food and wine ! Summary: We had a very pleasant week's stay at Le Banquet, enjoying both the gite and its surrounds. It's wonderful to be able to sit next to a babbling brook with a nice cup of tea (not very French, I know), soaking in the evening sun after a day's exploring the local area. It's just down the road from one of the most important caves in the Dordogne, the Font de Gaume - you can walk there from the Gite; very popular though, you have to queue from 8:30am for tickets. Karen and Rob are very friendly and welcoming hosts and easy to talk to for information about the area. Les Eyzies is a nice little town with a good selection of restaurants as well as all the prehistoric museums and attractions. The Gite is well kitted out with pretty much everything you'd need and there is a games room for the kids. Any downside? I guess it's a bit far to walk into town, so you do need a car, but then how else do you get around the Dordogne?

Summary: We had a fabulous week at La Banquet with our 2 children, 10 and 12. The gites are all lovely and really well equipped, even better than we expected from the website. Karen and Rob were great hosts - friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable. The pool was lovely and a welcome relief in the heatwave during our first few days (the gite kept nice and cool too). There is so much to do in the local area (which is stunning) that we may have to come back as we only really scratched the surface - Lascaux caves, a day long canoe trip, Castelnaud, Sarlat and Domme all recommended. Great choice of restaurants in local village. All in all, a perfect place for a holiday. We plan to return!

Summary: It's hard to know what to say that hasn't already been said by others. I agree with everything that has been said about Karen & Rob being wonderful laid back but helpful hosts who care about their guests' enjoyment of their holiday. Le Tournesol was the perfect size for us and our 2 boys, 10 and 12, and being on the ground floor and in the shade, kept nice and cool, and the courtyard sitting area was lovely and private. If we wanted sun we simply had to walk round the other side of the building by the river where we had deckchairs and a small table at our disposal (this became my perfect little quiet spot each day to catch the last of the evening sun and read a book, wine in hand, or watch the dragon flies and butterflies on the riverbank.) Or of course we could go to the pool which had plenty of sun loungers (no having to put your towels down to save one!) and was planted around the edges with beautiful lavender which apart from giving the air a wonderful smell did a fab job of keeping any bees occupied and away from sunbathers! The grounds are beautiful, just perfect, I loved being so close to the little river, it was so relaxing! The games room kept our boys occupied too and was really well equipped - we had brought a cricket set and a travel box of Cluedo with us for example, but they were already there in the games room. Darts, pool, table tennis, giant connect 4, jenga, boules, croquet, badminton, many box games - they were all available, as were many DVDs. The location is perfect- despite being on the road to Les Eyzies, we weren't disturbed by traffic noise, and we found it more convenient than being at the end of a long bumpy track full of potholes in the middle of nowhere (something which we've experienced in the past in rural holiday cottages!). A small supermarket/petrol station is a couple of mins drive away, and it it's possible to walk into Les Eyzies if you want to have a drink and leave the car behind. Restaurants are very nice with lovely staff and reasonable prices. Very central to all the many tourist attractions in the region, which we enjoyed: Chateau Castelnaud, aquarium, prehistoric maze, crazy golf, caves of Cazelles, prehistory museum, canoeing. But there is still lots to see so we will be back! I wholeheartedly recommend Le Banquet to everyone, especially those with children. And if you've never been to the Dordogne before like we hadn't, what are you waiting for? Just go - it's absolutely beautiful.

Summary: We had a wonderful stay, and can't recommend Karen and Rob's beautiful places highly enough . The setting is magnificent , right on a little stream running thru the property . They are within walking distance to Font de Gaume , an amazing cave going back 14,000 years . And the best part is Karen and Rob themselves - they are just delightful and very accommodating . Don't stay anywhere else in Les Eyzies Jim and Cathy

Summary: We had a fantastic week at Le Banquet. It was everything we hoped for. Karen and Rob are incredibly friendly and helpful but they don't intrude at all. The gardens are spectacular. Natural planting, drifts of flowers, a river running through, deckchairs and seating dotted around the garden in sunny spots. There's also a climbing frame and swing, large play barn packed with stuff for kids of all ages (ping pong, table football, pool table, board games, drawing equipment, toys for younger kids, books and DVDs etc). And of course the pool. Everything is done with real care and attention. For example, there are loads of loungers and umbrellas round the pool and a variety of inflatables, the DVDs are all good titles including lots of brand new releases, and we had everything we needed in our accommodation, even down to tin foil and cling film. In other words, stuff they don't need to provide but do. There was even a bottle of rose in the kitchen for us on arrival! We had a very relaxing week, not the norm when you're holidaying with a 3 and a 7 year-old, and there's plenty to do round and about. We saw 15,000 year-old paintings, explored a ruined castle and ate out in the local village. Would have done more if we'd been staying longer and hadn't been lolling around Le Banquet so happily! The two other families staying at the same time were friendly and fun to chat to around the pool, and the kids all hung out together. The cottages are positioned perfectly that you don't feel looked over and wouldn't need to be sociable if you didn't feel like it. All in all, thoroughly recommended.
