Take it easy at this unique and tranquil getaway! This cabin is located on over 160 acres w/ miles of private trails and abundant wildlife! The floors/trim of the home were made from reclaimed wood from an old amish barn nearby! The property is surrounded by many Amish/Mennonite families so it is quite unique to see a horse-drawn carriage on the roadways. This cabin is located far enough out to have peace & quiet but still only 15 minutes to the city(Wal-Mart, coffee, restaurants, etc)
This cabin a 2 bedroom / 2 bath in Leitchfield Kentucky. Its a nice and private location, with only one other home within a quarter mile of the cabin. There is a Dollar General less than 5 minutes away that carries all of your necessities, plus there is a Wal-Mart that is about 15 mins away, along with many other restaurants! The town in Leitchfield, has a quaint-small town feel to it with its Courthouse in the center of the Town Square.
Things to do at the cabin:
-Fireplaces: A guest favorite is building fires. There is a wood burning fireplace inside the cabin in the family room, and there is a Solo stainless steel fire pit on the porch. We keep a large supply of firewood available at the cabin to use at no charge.
-Trails: There is miles of trails on the property and its usually pretty easy to spot a deer, turkey, beaver, etc! Feel free to bring your mountain bikes, side by side(UTV), or horses.
-Creeks: There are several creeks on the property with springs and running water. Kids love grabbing rocks and building dams and finding cool stones!

-Rough River Lake: Rough River Lake is less than 10 minutes away from the cabin and has a couple of fishing spots. You can use the fishing poles provided at the cabin to go catch a few fish for dinner!
-Leitchfield Aquatic Center: In the summer there is a great water park for the family!
-Mammoth Cave: It is about an hours drive to Mammoth Cave National Park

Summary: Great spot for a hideaway getaway! Secluded. Accommodations were top notch. Loved grilling on the porch. We found a local meat shop and fresh produce. Sat around a lil fire till the bourbon was gone. Very peaceful and relaxing. Host was responsive and helpful.

Summary: Great place to get away. Host was very quick to respond to our questions (a binder with info about the place would be helpful). We didn’t get to enjoy the land as much as we would have liked since the temp was in the 90’s and super buggy. But the home itself was a nice retreat from that with ac.

Summary: My family stayed at this house for 3 nights for our trip to the Kentucky Derby. We were unbelievably excited to see the house when we got there! We almost exclusively use rental homes for our trips now due to having kids and more of a “home” feel. This one has been our favorite stay to date! “Luxury Rustic Cabin” in our opinion is the perfect description for this home. Although our drive to and from Churchill Downs was a little longer than we would have liked, it was not a real issue for us, as we do a lot of driving anyway. The house was abundantly stocked, had an excellent ambiance, and was nice and removed from any hustle and bustle. Would be a great place for people that want to just get away from the city and enjoy a cold/or warm drink on the big covered patio and decompress. If we ever come back to the area, we will certainly be back!

Summary: The cabin was as described in the description…very nice, very clean and updated nicely. The only issue, and maybe we just didn’t realize the area, but it was farther in to town than what we realized with roads that were interesting. All in all a very nice stay.

Summary: Cabin was clean and well stocked with all we could ask for. Love the large covered porch for enjoying the outdoors. Grilling, reading, bird watching. Wonderful pair of red bellied woodpeckers nesting in a maple tree next to the porch. If you like bird watching it's a great place...indigo bunting, vireos, warblers, tanagers, fly catchers etc. Took a humming bird feeder and it was emptied within the week. Enjoyed various trips within an hour or so driving distance. Owensboro to visit Bluegrass museum, river front park and Moonlite BBQ. Crystal Onyx Cave, in Cave City. Rented pontoon from Nick's to relax on Rough River Lake. Leitchfield Aquatic Center was nice and clean for a hot sunny day. Friendly, quiet area with lots of Amish farms. Kyle was quick to respond with any concerns we had.
