Milnthorpe truly is the jewel in the crown of Golden Bay, situated 5 kms from Collingwood township on the Para Para Inlet amongst walking tracks, bush and beach. Our beach house is the perfect place to chill out and enjoy your surroundings. With the bush and beach at your door you have the option to explore, play or simply laze about listening to the Tui, Bell birds and watching the Fantails. The house can be opened up with several pairs of bi-folding doors allowing the inside and outside to merge as one. The master bedroom with en-suite is conveniently positioned at one end of the house creating a sense of privacy and intimacy. The open plan dining/lounge/kitchen area separates the master bedroom from the other two bedrooms (the main bathroom services these bedrooms).
Kayaks are available should you wish to explore the inlet or wander up the waterways leading into the forest. The walk to Collingwood township (approx. 45 minutes) along the beach is always fun.
Milnthorpe's central location in Golden Bay gives you easy access to all that the region has to offer. Farewell Spit and Wharariki beach are always a favourite. Then of course a drive out to Totaranui where you can catch a local water taxi and walk back via the Abel Tasman Track, stopping off at Awaroa Lodge for lunch and a drink is something to be savored
It's always good to keep some time available to check out the local arts and crafts, with studios dotted all over the bay - you will find local painters, potters, jewellers and sculptors many of them characters in there own rights.......
And talking about character, check out the Mussell Inn at Onekakaka for specialty beers, cuisine and entertainment to match!

Summary: The house was lovely. Very well equipped kitchen, good layout and perfect for our family. There were plenty of board games and DVDs to relax with after a full day at the beach. The beach is just a short walk away and is stunning at high and low tide. Perfect location for Farewell Spit, Wharariki beach and all the beaches along Golden Bay. My highlight was watching the piwakawaka, quails and tūī in the garden every evening.

Summary: My family thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this lovely holiday home. The location is delightful, sheltered and quiet, with a lot of trees and bird song to enjoy. It is just a short stroll to the beach and estuary.The house is well equipped and beds comfortable. Would highly recommend.

Summary: Very nice place. Good walks in mear bush. Property is clean and cosy. Well situated. Garden could look into the ocean, which is not the case, however that didn’t stop us from having fantastic time there.

Summary: Our stay was incredible.lovely home with everything we could need. Wonderful communication with the host and the best spot. 1 min walk to the most incredible estuary and beach. Surrounded by bush and bird song but so close to Collingwood for supplies :) will be back again!

Summary: A super comfortable house with space to spare. Quiet, so close to the sand and sea. Great for small dogs to run about safely. Had everything we needed to cook meals, enjoy eating al fresco and go kayaking if you like. BBQ also. Would definitely go again.

Summary: Five of us stayed 2 nights at this lovely home to celebrate an early Christmas together. The house was clean and tidy when we arrived. The lock box took a while to find but we found it. The bush walks around the area were wonderful and the lagoon at high tide was beautiful to swim in. The mosquito were very keen to come inside so we had to shut the doors and use the aircon. This worked well and kept us comfortable. Mosquito screens would be useful at this property. It was great that there was fly spray at the house as we had not brought any. If I went again I would take citronella candles so we could enjoy the outdoor sitting area with out the bugs. The kitchen was a dream to cook in and the 6 setting table was a comfortable size. We enjoyed the comfortable couches. There were great games to play and a pack of cards. The two double beds were very comfortable. We all slept well. Thank you for letting us bring our 2 old dogs they enjoyed the walks and were both happy inside on their dog beds. We are super happy with our stay and only wished we could have stayed a week!

Summary: The house and its location made for the perfect getaway for our family. The beach is straight from a travel magazine, so beautiful, and the walking tracks of Milnthorpe Park provided hours of peaceful wandering.
