Positive: The hotel’s design and cleanliness are flawless. I very much appreciated being promptly upgraded to a room with a view as soon as I realized the one I had booked didn’t have one. The staff are attentive and quick to resolve any issues. The traditional restaurant is excellent for both breakfast and dinner, and the private deck is a wonderful bonus. Siófok itself has a charming retro vibe—reminiscent of childhood memories—which made for a delightful bit of time travel with my teenager.
Negative: I had booked the corner room, and from the photos, we expected a clear view of the lake. It was disappointing to discover that the room actually faced the rather unattractive hotel next door, and the lake was only visible if I stood at an angle by the window. Fortunately, I was offered an upgrade right away—so this isn’t a complaint—but without the stunning view from the upgraded room, I would have been quite unhappy. The hotel isn’t in a secluded spot; instead, it sits among a row of otherwise fairly mediocre-looking hotels in Siófok, an area with a distinctly retro atmosphere (to us an added bonus, as stated above).
