Positive: Mama Gia is an exceptional home stay. You are immediately welcomed into the family and cared for. Organising our treks was very easy, message through WhatsApp for a very quick reply. The location in the hills of the rice patty’s is amazing. I will highly recommend this home stay to everyone. Thank you Mama Gia and her family for a wonderful experience

Positive: You will arrive among the rice fields in terraces. deep in nature, with wonderful landscapes and away from the city. You will be welcomed by a wonderful woman and her family who will let you discover the area and the Hmong culture 😍 and prepare a lovely diner to share! A great experience and stay!!! You need a moto taxi to get there. They can pick you up.

Positive: Beautiful family homestay in a lovely small village. Everyone was friendly and welcoming, the bamboo cabin was lovely and cosy and had stunning views. The food was delicious and plentiful. The trekking was adjusted to meet our needs and we really loved spending the time with mama gia and meeting her family.
Negative: One shared toilet and shower so may have to wait if there's large groups staying.

Positive: If you are looking for a home stay, don't look any further! You'll stay in a small village just outside of Sapa. We walked there from Sapa city centre, it's a nice hike of 8km-12km (length depending if you choose the longer route, you can decide half way, so don't worry if you're not sure during the booking, we can recommend, however the longer hike - much more scenic). Luggage was picked up by the homestay from the centre, so we didn't have to bring our luggage with us, it was very convenient. Mama Gia, Su (her son) and their family are the perfect people to stay with. They are very warm, extremely helpful, and kind. They can provide you with dinner and breakfast at an extra cost! (We used it for our whole stay). We can definitely recommend the home cooked meals for sure :) The only "con" we had was that the bathroom leaves maybe a bit to be desired but remember - you are in a homestay in the mountains, so expect simplicity! It's clean, has hot water so you should be good. All in all, we recommend this place 5/5 for a more local experience and Mama Gia, Su and their beautiful family will give you a top tier experience.

Positive: We loved Mama Gia’s! It was one of the most authentic experiences we could have ever done! We were amazed to find out that this was the only homestay in this entire village! So it was truly authentic as other villages have many tourists with hundreds of home stays. I think we probably had more comfortable facilities than most home stays but this was our first. We lived amongst the village and ate a wonderful meal with the family for supper as well as an excellent breakfast with another couple of travellers. The walk into the village was beyond amazing and experienced how the people of this country village lived with chickens, ducks, cows, water buffalo, and dogs and how they all just seemed to cohabitate well with one another! Mama Gia arranged for a cab to come pick us up and take us back into town as we were all worn out.
Negative: The only thing we didn’t like was that we didn’t stay longer! Mama G showed us pictures of her Trekk to a waterfall that we wished we could have done!!! Next time 😬
