Summary: Came for a fishing tournament on elk lake. Wives met us at the cabin . We all had a great weekend

Summary: My son and his girlfriend wanted to get away for a weekend and they asked me to plan a trip. Although I was born and raised in Michigan, I hadn't spent much time in this area of Michigan, After much searching, I found this cabin that seemed to meet our needs. The weekend we chose happened to be an unusually chilly and windy weekend and we are glad this cabin had heat (not advertised on VRBO). There are 4 cabins that are situated right on Thayer Lake. The area does have a large number of residences, but the cabins still felt isolated. The cabins are located between Alden and Bellaire so access to stores and restaurants was easy. The cabin itself was cozy with everything we needed for a weekend. It was very clean and the beds were extremely comfortable. The cabins seemed fairly new or recently remodeled. The size of the cabin was perfect for 4 adults. Although we didn't use them, there were a number of row boats and kayaks that seemed to be available for guests. We saw deer in the mornings and evenings. The host did supply a folder with the wifi password as well as recommendations for activities and restaurants. Each cabin had a firepit available. We never interacted with the host, but I believe that we did see and host and waved as we drove into the cabin. The only constructive feedback I would provide is that if I would have stayed here longer than a weekend, I would have liked a little more cookware to be able to make meals in the cabin.
