Positive: The room itself was nice. Large bathroom. Air conditioning and WiFi worked well. They supplied bottled water with the room. It's very near the port for ferry connections.The breakfast was fine.
Negative: They did not have a room at Marko Pasa hotel even though I had booked one with a balcony. They offered me a room at their sister hotel nearby called Ikarus Hotel. The room was one floor above the all night bar which was quite noisy. There was no balcony with the room. It quietened down at about 02.00. The window did not close so there was no way to sound-proof the loud noise from the bar.

Positive: Room is huge and has a lovely balcony. Decor is fun and quirky. Staff is very nice. Was able to check in early.
Negative: Air conditioning did not work well. I asked at reception and they said they’d send someone to look at it. 45 minutes later, no one had come so I went downstairs and had to ask again. They put the AC on turbo and said wait a few minutes. Unfortunately turbo only lasted about 10 minutes. The worst was having a group of people in the rooms next door who were loud, shouting in the hallways, slamming doors and returned at 3am, drunk and screaming and woke me up. I complained to the staff and they explained that people are from different cultures and have different upbringings. I’ve never stayed at a hotel that defended bad behavior! No housekeeping for the 3 days I was there which is gross when they ask you to put your toilet paper in the garbage and not the toilet. If I was supposed to ask, no one explained that. There was very little explanation about anything not even a WiFi password (which I doin found, by chance, in a basket in my room with shampoo bottles.) Facilities are outdated and need to be renovated. My takeaway is, if you have a smaller budget, are traveling with your friends and you want to behave terribly, go out drinking and clubbing and not care about anyone else sleeping when you’re back, this is the perfect hotel! You won’t get in any trouble. If you’d like to sleep through the night, stay someplace else. When I checked out, no one asked if I needed help with my bags or a taxi (I did). Luckily I found a taxi stand a few minutes away on my second day there. The staff is very nice, but not terribly helpful.
