6 Bedroom House in Elmaton, Matagorda

Also known as the Matagorda Riverside Lodge, with an alternate address of 143 Beach Road. With over 3200 square feet of space, this lodge is the perfect getaway for large groups or families that need a little more space. With 3 living areas, 16 beds throughout the 6 fully furnished bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, and two large dining tables there is a place for everyone.
The two downstairs living areas have televisions streaming Hulu, Disney+, and ESPN, and wifi is available throughout the property.
There is a private suite area downstairs that includes one of the living areas, bedrooms 1 and 2, and bathroom 1. Bedrooms 3 and 4 each have their own bathrooms en suite. Bedrooms 5 and 6 are upstairs and share bathroom 4. Bedroom 5, with 4 twin beds, also includes a seating area and a door opening to the upper deck.
With a large kitchen, bar area, and two refrigerators you will have plenty of space to entertain. The kitchen is fully equipped with appliances, pots and pans, and utensils, but no food, spices, or condiments are provided. Dish soap, hand soap, paper towels, toilet paper, bath towels, and bed linens are provided.
There is an air conditioned laundry room with a washer, dryer, the second refrigerator and a game table.
The house is directly on the river with plenty of deck space to fish and crab, or just hang out and grill. There is a green light for night fishing and a variety of fish to catch - everything from black drum, redfish, trout, and many other species. There is a fish cleaning station on the deck to clean your haul.
Catch a beautiful sunset from the picnic tables on the upper deck. The beach access is just a little over a mile down the road, or you can go a little farther and visit the Nature Center, the pier, and the jetties.
There are a few bait shops, Dollar General, Stanley's convenience store, a few restaurants, and several cute boutiques and souvenir shops to find anything you need for your stay. There are also a few places to launch your boat along the river.

Summary: We had a wonderful time at the Lodge. There was enough beds and space for everyone. We even caught a few fish. This place is a wonderful place to stay when traveling with a large group.

Summary: I was excited to see it listed since we stayed back in 2017. However, I'm disappointed in the shape of the house and the cleanliness. While the host was quick to respond, I had to reach out the day before the trip to get the check-in instructions which was a first. He did allow us to check-in an hour early. You could tell the house was recently painted, I'm assuming from damage caused by hurricane Beryl, because there was a used paint brush shoved behind the couch cushion, one of the comforters was stuck to the wall from paint, and painters tape left on the wall in one of the bathrooms. The towel holders weren't put back on the wall properly in one of the bathrooms. The toilets were loose and would move when sat on. There were one or two holes in the walls as well. The mattresses and pillows need to be updated. Quite a few of the pillows has huge brown stains on them and were musty. More than one of us woke up in pain from the metal bar of the bed frame as there is no box spring under the thin mattresses. The foam topper did nothing to help. There were dead bugs throughout the house when we arrived, which isn't unusual, but significantly more than the other houses we've stayed at. A bedroom door had what looked like dried blood on the back with other stains. There were hairs left in the shower. And the wall unit that blows directly over the stove was disgusting. Overall, the house is great for large groups. However, the upkeep needs some improvement.

Summary: We used to stay in this house before it belonged to the new owners, and haven't been back for other reasons. But we decided to host our company trip here since it's large enough to accomodate our small business. I was skeptical because I saw all of the stainless commercial appliances were removed and that was one of my favorite features.. but we had a great time. The charcoal grill was in great condition, we had enough room to park the boats, and there's plenty of utensils for cooking in kitchen. The owner of the property even let us in early on our check-in day without any hesitation. And with spot coolers in just about every room of the house, no one went to bed hot! This is a big deal to us since we are an HVAC company and don't like to sweat when we don't have to! hah I'm glad to see the house is being rented by such a great crew. Thank you for the awesome time.

Summary: 13 guys stayed here on a fishing trip - have had 16 in prior years without sharing beds. Fishing guides come to the dock making for an easy fishing trip. Close to area restaurants and bars. Owner was accessible for questions during our stay. We'll be back.

Summary: We had a fabulous family time celebrating two birthdays so much space to spread out and enjoy cooking together, eating together and hanging out on the dock. Totally recommend this house for a great time.
