Summary: This is our second stay at Matemwe lodge in about 4 years. It is isolated and luxuriously private with just 12 bungalows. Staff, services, reef diving and food are all 5-stars. It doesn't get better than this Travelling to Zanzibar from Nairobi by air can be very frustrating and stressful

Summary: The property was ok. They had great employees. The only problem is it’s a little far from all the vacation all popular beaches and activities. It’s 1hr away from stone town and airport.

Summary: Gorgeous resort - quiet and serene during low season. Thoughtful kind service, staff genuinely cared about our stay - dinners on the beach and great activities - snorkeling, reef walks, kayaking.

Summary: Excellent location in front of rocks, reef and Mnemba Atoll…feel like you are flying several meters above the sea… unique place. Personal is the other thing highling this place - they always help you in any question. Really tasty food – which is rare for Zanzibar. Bungalows is exactly what it should be if Lodge – I loved it, although a few nights it was really hard to sleep well without AC, while fan above should be regulated carefully if you don’t want to get cold. Problems with Wi-Fi connection in some Bungalows could be easily solved - just buy local sim-card with 3G Internet for $2-3.

Summary: The hotel is very nice with tasteful rustic bungalows that blend in well with the island and surrounding environment. Staff & mamangement friendly & very courteous. They tried to be very helpful but sometimes felt like they were trying too hard and weren’t as knowledgeable as tried to be. My problem with the hotel is how secluded it is which maybe great for someone looking for minimal interaction with others but it was a bit too much for us. I can’t recommend this hotel because of the beach access problem. The reef and the tide make it almost impossible to swim and you’d have to take a boat or venture out in a taxi to other beach towns. This hotel is a good one but definitely not for everyone.

Summary: The perfect "escape from it" all break. The staff could not be more helpful without being intrusive. The location was stunning and very peaceful. Food and beverage standard higher than similar properties. Would not hesitate to recommend to couple wanting a relaxing break. The short off-road track approaching the hotel was in poor condition due to the recent rain, but it did not retract from our excellent stay.
