Positive: Really comfortable and compact room that had everything for our group of 4. Room was clean and stocked with essentials for tea, coffee and 6 crumpets and butter that we appreciated the next morning.

Positive: Quirky, rustic and unique place to stay but with enough modernity for it to be comfortable and homely. The hosts had provided us with milk, tea/coffee and crumpets for breakfast which was a nice touch. There was also a basket of children's games and activities which we were not expecting. Everything was clean and tidy and there was enough space for 4 of us without it feeling cramped. My children loved the rustic touches and exploring the bunk beds. Closing the curtains at night to make a little snug was a bonus! Double bed was a good size and a nice firm mattress which I prefer. Easy location to find with the sat nav and only a short walk down into Matlock for all the amenities. Parking was ample and right next door. Didn't use the shower as only stayed one night.

Negative: There was a fair bit of traffic noise, particularly from motorcycles - not the hosts fault it's down to location. Guests in the adjoining room returned late at night drunk so we heard a lot of shouting/doors slamming - again not the hosts fault but not ideal when you have children trying to sleep The window shutters let in too much light (see picture) which even when closed shone down directly onto the double bed. Right in your face in the morning if you sleep on the left. Only a few niggles.

Positive: Love the upcycling and quirkiness, it was really cute and had much more provided than we had expected. The room was plenty big enough and the bathroom perfect for our needs. The attention to detail is brilliant, lots of storage space, plenty of privacy with the little curtains around the beds and everything felt really well made and secure.

Negative: The entranceway is really narrow, the table and layout of the doors making it hard to navigate with a group or bags, you sort of have to take it in turns to get in and out (almost like a kissing gate!) There isn't much noise protection between the left and right side of the bunk barn so on our first night there was a really noisy group and we could hear every word of their conversations.

Summary: We loved it and would definitely come back.

Positive: Lovely room. Good parking. Kids loved the bunks. Nice mix of rustic and modern. Clean and private (apart from being able to hear the guests next door quite easily).

Negative: Wish I'd known about the hill prior to booking. My daughter has mobility issues, so it wasn't ideal. Ubers were needed, even for super short journeys. The traffic woke us at about 6 am as we were booked into the right room, which is situated on the road edge. Would have been nice if there was an outdoor smoking area somewhere, but I didn't mind having the odd cigarette in my car. The park nearby was pretty but very small. Not loads to do right on the doorstep, but a £5 taxi will take you to Matlock Baths, which has a bit of fun. I probably wouldn't stay here again, mainly because of the super hill 🤣 Even the taxi drivers didn't like going up that way!

Summary: Cute but that HILL!!! 😅

Positive: We didn't actually stay in the rooms because of a mix up with some other guests turning up a day early but the hosts couldn't have been more helpful. They took us over the road for a drink and pizza. Then they booked us some alternative accommodation and drive us over there in their car . From the brief look I had the accomodation looked good.

Positive: Really comfortable and well thought out, and well located. Everything was new and clean.

Negative: Shame that there was only towels for two and a sleeping bag not duvet for the bunks. I get that it's glamping but it would have been even better to have a proper duvet and towel for our daughter. To be fair it was clear that this would be the case before we arrived.
