Positive: We loved every minute of our stay. Carla and her family were welcoming and kind. The cabin was beautiful. The view was serene. It is about 15 minutes out of town so renting a car is a good idea. The hotel helped with this and gave us better treated than we found online!

Positive: Maunga Roa Eco Lodge is very cozy in a quiet and peaceful location with a beautiful view to the greenery and ocean. It’s just a 15 minutes drive to the main town. They clean the house everyday and the host is friendly and helpful. We enjoyed having breakfast on the balcony while watching sunrise. Would highly recommend!

Negative: No heating or a/c. We were there during winter and it got really cold. Also didn’t have hot water and had to forego showering on 2 occasions which is not acceptable for a 4 star hotel

Negative: Booking has marked the property in completely location. Following the booking location took us an hour to drive around very bad roads before figuring out it’s wrong. When I brought this up with the staff she was unhappy about my complain and blamed me for using booking.com map. The location was very inconvenient anyway.

Negative: There were a lot of mosquitoes, especially after it rained. Since there were no window screens, we had to keep the windows closed or burn mosquito coils to keep them out. The room didn’t have air conditioning; although we were given a fan, we couldn’t open the windows, so the air quality was poor. My wife and I got bitten by mosquitoes every day. Although Booking.com listed the check-out time as 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM, we were required to check out at 10:00 AM. The host explained that the actual check-out time depends on the circumstances. The hot water in the shower only lasts for about ten minutes. After that, it immediately turns cold, so you have to turn off the shower, wait two to three minutes, and then turn it on again to reset.
Summary: I recommend choosing the five-star hotel next door.

Positive: The location is a dream. Away from the tourist traps, it was an authentic Rapa Nui experience. We felt like kings in the 2 bedroom Bungalow. The hosts were extremely sweet and very helpful and personally came to pick us up at the airport. The fact that they rent their cars out to you is super convenient as well.
