Summary: We loved Celine's little spot in the Vaucluses hills. We loved being based in this little village with its ancient character and comfortable community. Close to Pernes Les Fontaines, you can get to all of the amenities in 10 minutes by car, and specially, if you are from North America you will love, the classic boulangerie (bakery), boucherie (butcher) and cave (wine store). All really, really well stocked with beautiful food and wine and individual proprieters with wonderful moods (and patience while you try your rudimentary French). Celine's family is just up the road from you to take care of you right away and with such great good humour. Your stay is fabulously well supported. Celine left us a great store of local touristry pamphlets and maps to supplement our own travel books. Had we arrived with nothing planned, we would have been fine. You will have the benefit of arriving home in the late afternoon or evening to your quiet spot with all of the amenities you need. Celine's family will probably have tucked some home made pate into the fridge for your welcome and a couple of bottles of beer. Arles is about 2 hours from you, Aix, a bit less maybe, Avignon about an hour and you can start a drive through the Luberon hilltowns - well, right there really because La Roque sur Pernes is really one of them (and in our opinion, the best of them and our favourite). North the incredible Vaison Romaine is 1.5 hours or so and on the way back you can take in some of the greatest wine spots in the world - our favourite is Gigondas. Chateau-neuf-de Papes and Orange are a short drive too. One day we made it all the way down to the Carmague and literally put our toes in the Mediteranean. A great location, from which to do Provence. We really cannot say enough good things about the little house, Celine's welcoming parents and relatives (who are only there when you need them or want them), so helpful yet so discreet and the perfect location. Summary: Visited this cottage for the second time, in June this year. It is in a very tranquil setting and is perfect for escaping city life. It is furnished to a very high standard and is in an ideal situation for visiting Avignon to the West or The Luberon to the East. Whilst a car is essential, L'Isle -sur -la Surgue is nearby with excellent supermarkets and restaurants. Would definitely recommend to those who appreciate a stay in the French countryside.

Summary: We really enjoyed our stay here. The house is ideal for 2 (and no more than 2) nicely situated close to the hills and the mountain villlage of La Roque sur Pernes. It is very pleasantly decorated and furbished, as the photos show with lots of nice touches. It is literally one up, one down with the kithen/living room downstairs and the bedroom with en suite bathroom (shower) upstairs. Two patios and the orchard like grounds (cherry, olive, fig, and apple trees, not to mention vines and lavender) provide a great setting for meals outside and just relaxing in the sunshine, with views over the wooded hillsides. The house is right next to the road up to the village, but as others have mentioned the traffic is not disturbing at all, with perhaps a half a dozen cars an hour going past. The usual shops and several restaurants are about 15 minutes drive away in the small town of Perne les Fontaines. We ate a couple of times in the Cafe de la Place, which was fine for good straight forward meals and friendly service. Other restaurants are recommended on different websites, but we didn't eat out often enough to try them. The landlady and family live close by and were very friendly and helpful. The location is ideal for all the attractions and activities you associate with Provence. Avignon is easily reachable, just as much so as Mount Ventou of Tour de France fame. Cycling and hiking are ideal (perhaps not so in the heat of August) with loads of routes in the vicinity, and the Saumane Golf Club is just 15 minutes away and very playable. We had a very pleasant fortnight here in the middle of September, when temperatures are warm but not too hot. We can definitely recommend the cottage and plan to come back in the not too distant future.
