Keene Ski Chalet | Mercy Cabin - Peaceful and Private! - Keene, NY, Adirondack High Peaks

3 Bedroom Ski Chalet in Keene

Mercy Cabin is located in Keene, NY, in the heart of the Adirondack High Peaks region. Our spacious and tasteful cabin is a great spot for enjoying the multitude of activities in the region or just enjoying a relaxing and quiet vacation.
Mercy Cabin is 1,280 square feet, including the open main room (kitchen, dining nook, and living room), 3 large bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms. A front deck runs the length of the house and is built around a large granite boulder. The Sunrise and Sunset bedrooms and open living room have sliding glass doors onto the deck. Our loft provides extra sleeping space for older children. And no need to clutter the living space with all your gear: Between the large mudroom inside the cabin and the large side porch you'll find plenty of room for gear storage and drying.
All interior walls and cathedral ceilings are finished in 12" wide pine boards. Plenty of large windows and sliding doors. The result is a spacious, warm, bright and charming interior atmosphere very much in keeping with the wooded setting. Our guests refer to Mercy as a "luxury cabin", combining the charm of a cabin and the luxuries of home.
The Property:
Our location, 1/2 mile off Rte 73 on a private road, is accessible yet remarkably quiet. Situated on a wooded property, the grounds around the cabins transition from a well kept lawn to open woods with maintained native ground cover to a managed woodlot, resulting in an open and inviting atmosphere. The location features spectacular views across the valley to Hurricane Mountain and surrounding peaks, with glimpses of Giant and Dix Mountains. Sound effects are provided by the gentle murmur of the Ausable River East Branch in the valley below.
The Region:
The centerpiece of the region is the Adirondack High Peaks, where hundreds of miles of foot trails provide access to the rugged beauty of the mountain interior. Outdoor activities in the region include hiking, snowshoeing, back-country and cross-country skiing, mountaineering, rock and ice climbing, trail running, wildlife viewing, flat water and whitewater paddling, hunting, fishing... the list goes on and on, limited only by your imagination. For those with less ambitious goals, or on rest days, Lake Placid and the surrounding region offer a multitude of relaxing and interesting attractions and activities. A sampling -
- Lake Placid: Home of the 1932 and 1980 Winter Olympic Games
- Tupper Lake: The Wild Center (Regional Natural History Museum)
- Blue Mountain Lake: Adirondack Museum (Regional Human/Cultural History Museum)
- Whiteface Mountain: The Olympic mountain is a short 15 mile drive.
Our Philosophy:
It is no wonder that generations of outdoor enthusiasts have been drawn to the rugged beauty of the Adirondack Region. Visionary legislation that established the Adirondack Park in 1892 initiated a tradition of conservation aimed at ensuring that this critical natural resource be preserved. It is incumbent on today's users of the resource to carry on that tradition. We at Mercy Cabin believe that by responsibly enjoying our public lands today we can ensure that the same opportunities will be available for future generations.
We further believe that development of the intimate and respectful relationship with nature that begins in childhood, and we strive to create a family-friendly atmosphere, a comfortable and enjoyable retreat where parents can nurture this relationship in their children. In keeping with that goal our rate structure is designed to encourage families.

Summary: An amazing cabin tucked away in the woods above Keene. Easy access to the central High Peaks, but still not in the fray of it all. The cabin was clean, well laid out and easily accommodated our family of four plus two medium-sized dogs. Great deck to sit out on at night and enjoy the summer weather. We hope to rent here again!

Summary: My Father and I stayed at Mercy Cabin after a winter storm and had a great time hiking (with spikes) in the Adirondacks. The cabin is a great location in the High Peaks and central to all the incredible trails and adventure outings. The cabin's main living space was so awesome to relax at the end of the day and the view makes you really feel part of the woods and landscape. Sean was a great host and the cabin was very clean with all you need for a weekend or extended get away. We will definitely be back again and cannot wait for our next stay.

Summary: Nice place. The map that was attached via email did not come thru but I did not ask to resend. If you are going to stay here use Google maps as Waze and other apps were not pinpoint and off. You need all wheel drive or a 4x4. A eco sport with all wheel drive did make it up the hill also my truck had no problem but I can see anything that is front wheel or rear wheel could have a problem in winter. You could make it if you go at speed as signs suggest. Was not to sure about recycling so if I messed up I am sorry to the owner. I saw in a review that one person complained about a smell but it is a old place in the mountains so humidity can play a factor in cabins like this. We were fine could not really smell anything. Very nice view and beautiful town. I would rent here again if the owner does not mind. Also it is dog friendly.
