"Luna Mesa" a beautiful hidden gem. Please note in our efforts to provide a safe stay we require guests, family, and friends to be vaccinated for Covid and we have been vaccinated. We follow strict Covid cleaning protocols as well. The contemporary straw-bale steel post and beam owners’ home with an upstairs queen suite for guests (the Mesa Verde Vista Upstairs Queen Suite), and a guest casita/cottage (the Moon Dancer Casita), and owners’ art studio is situated on 17 private acres at the base of Mesa Verde National Park. The unique southwest property with its adobe walled gardens and spectacular forever views of Mesa Verde, the Mancos valley and La Plata mountains will gift the traveler with memories of Colorado at its best! Relax after your day touring ancient pueblo cliff and pit dwellings in Mesa Verde National Park or exploring canyon and mountain trails by foot, snowshoe, ski, mountain bike, ATV, jeep, or snowmobile. The lakes and rivers nearby are to be enjoyed by boat, kayak, canoe, or rod. The Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge train depot is just 40 minutes away and the historical mining towns of Durango and Silverton will have you stepping back in time. The Mesa Verde Museum, Canyon of the Ancients Cultural Museum Center and the Cortez Cultural Center are excellent for education about the Ancient Pueblo People who left their mysterious mystical ruins for us to visit. There are so many wonderful things and places to experience and explore you'll be happy to know your hosts have lived in the area for 34 and 50 years and will happily help you plan your excursions in the Four Corners region. After your full day relax at "Luna Mesa" and enjoy the luxury Queen "Mesa Verde Vista" Room Suite and the Hot Spring Tub. (Please note: Pets are not allowed in the "Mesa Verde Vista" Upstairs Suite due to the special Cherry Wood Floors and Navajo Rugs.) The forever views are beautiful day or night with a luminous moon or dark sky milky-way stars and planets so bright you will want to reach for one and make a wish. There are excellent restaurants and entertainment within a short drive. As a "Mesa Verde Vista' room guest, should you like breakfast before you leave for your day of exploring travels, we will make a previously arranged gourmet breakfast for an additional fee. We will also give you easy directions to the local extremely popular favorite cafe known for wonderful organic and local food, baked goods, and locally roasted coffee, the "Absolute Bakery Cafe". "Luna Mesa" - make it your perfect hidden gem central location on your map as you explore the beautiful southwest Four Corners Colorado region!
You will be given the option to either include a Refundable Damage Deposit for $300 (which will be refunded after checking out if there has not been any property damage) or a non-refundable Property Damage Protection Insurance Plan for $79. Summary: First, Rhonda is a very welcoming and lively host who was helpful throughout our stay and knowledgeable. The communication with her was excellent. We rented the upstairs, a large room, an open space with a small living room, a closed bedroom and a bathroom (you have to enter in the house and use the stairs to go to your living area). This is a splendid and unique house. The views all around are superb and if you want to have the feeling of the country side and be close to the Mesa Verde park, this is the place for you ( 1 mile from the park). The breakfast is not included officially, but there is a small fridge with yogurt and some bread, there is also granola, fruits and jam. You can bring your food downstairs on the terrace to eat (dishes are provided). There are restaurants a available at a 15-20minutes drive We absolutely loved our stay at Rhonda's.

Summary: We made a last minute decision to go to Southwest Colorado over the Holiday weekend and found the Mesa Verde Vista property. We loved the pictures and the reviews of previous visitors were very encouraging. Rhonda got in touch with us right after we finished the reservation to give us directions and inquire about what our interests were. She gave us a few suggestions right away to help us plan. When we arrived at the property, it was better than what you could see in the pictures. The room was stunning and the vistas were spectacular. We were very comfortable when hanging out in the room and slept like babies. Rhonda and Dennis were there to greet us and they made us feel at home right away. We had a better idea of what our plans were and they provided additional suggestions on things to do as well as excellent recommendations for food. They are a friendly and fun couple to be around! If you are thinking on visiting the Durango/Mancos/Cortez are don’t hesitate to check out this property,

Summary: Rhonda and Dennis's property is one of a kind, with total privacy and breathtaking views of the landscape and big night sky! They were very welcoming and hospitable, and the accommodations were relaxing and peaceful, especially the hot tub! Would definitely recommend staying if you are in the area

Summary: Rhonda and Dennis provided the best hospitality that I’ve ever experienced, with a beautiful space for my partner and I to spend New Years. Rhonda truly made our experience an unforgettable one by sharing her home and good conversation with us. We will definitely be back! She offered to cook us dinner and breakfast for a small fee since the roads were bad to town. An amazing cook and she gave us GREAT recommendations for places to eat and explore. Truly felt like a home away from Home. 10/10 recommend.

Summary: Rhonda and Dennis were gracious and engaging hosts and we loved staying in the upstairs suite of their “Mesa Luna” home. They could not have been more welcoming and helpful, from providing detailed driving directions to recommendations for extraordinary ancestral puebloan sites to visit when much of Mesa Verde was closed for the season. Their beautiful home is thoughtfully appointed and overlooks the historic Mancos Valley in the very shadow of the Mesa. We enjoyed soaking in the hot tub while gazing at the Milky Way. We loved our stay and are already planning a return and an even longer stay at Mesa Luna next year!
