Positive: This guesthouse is very special, nested on the quiet side of Elephantine island, it has a unique, peaceful view of the Nile. The rooms are essential but big, with every you need for your stay. The food at the restaurant is the best on the island, we ate here every night and were always amazed by it. But the real special thing about this is the family that runs it: kind and with a good heart. We were sad to leave and would definitely come back

Positive: One room that is river facing room is good The hotel staff was helpful in moving our luggage from the jetty to the room, otherwise it would have been difficult.

Negative: All other rooms are very basic and not comfortable for family. The hotel pic showed is only the riverside room and not all the rooms. Partial river view is not good. T

Positive: The owner was very friendly and helped me arrange a felucca trip at a reasonable price. The room had a wonderful view, and there was a staff member who kindly helped carry my luggage. Staying on Elephantine Island let me enjoy peaceful and quiet nights — highly recommended.

Positive: The location is spectacular. The gusesthouse is located on the shore of Elephantine island. All the staff including the owner Mohammed are absolutely brilliant and incredibly helpful. My only regret is not staying longer at the guest house.

Positive: The location is wonderful on the west side of Elephantine Island, where it's so peaceful and the views are amazing. Mohammed the host is super helpful and arranged an airport taxi transfer to Aswan and a private boat taxi (which is essential, don't try and carry your luggage from ferry terminal as it's a long way and you will certainly get lost, especially at night!) to the accommodation. And then when we were delayed he rearranged everything even when we got to Aswan after midnight.

Negative: Everything was good! We knew we were booking basic accommodation with a wonderful view and that's exactly what we had. Everything was clean and spacious and just what we expected.

Summary: Brilliant no frills accommodation with a great host and fabulous views.

Positive: We really enjoyed our stay at Meshra Katto. It was so quiet on the island and we were very comfortable. Most importantly the owner was extremely helpful and accommodating. He arranged for a couple of tours for us to see the Philae temple and unfinished obelisk and to see the gardens and the Nubian village for an exceptionally reasonable price. Definitely go that route if you’re staying here!

Positive: Lovely guesthouse with excellent location and fantastic view. Mohamed was amazing host, very kind, helpful and always available. He helped us organize visit to Philae Temple and also gave us many useful advices. The view from our balcony was priceless. The area is very peaceful and authentic, you are on the island in the real Nubian village. The food was excellent, both breakfast and dinner. There is no better place to stay in Aswan than this. Highly recommended!
