Summary: We really enjoyed the beautiful Milbryn Lodge aka the original Reuben Loveren Home. The property is very private and has a lovely estate feel. We really appreciated the historical significance of the home and actually enjoyed learning more about the original owner of the house and how he and his family contributed to the building and growth of Deering and Hillsboro. In fact his son or grandson helped to build the stone arch bridges in Hillsboro. On a separate note, for those guests that appreciate a paranormal experience, we’re pretty sure that Reuben still walks the halls of his house. Nothing bad at all, but just a gentleman who is still proud of what he built.

Summary: This place was better than expected (and I was expecting a lot). Beautiful, historic building. Comfy beds. Good bathrooms with great water pressure. The property must be seen to be fully appreciated. Stunning. It was a great central location. For leaf peeping. We visited Vermont, Maine and Massachusetts from here. Owners were incredibly helpful and communicated quickly. If you are coming to New England and want that touch of magic and wonder…This is your place.

Summary: This house is truly incredible! I love old houses, and it did not disappoint. I was a bit confused about what I was booking though. To clarify someone was in part of the house very much attached to the part I was renting and we could sometimes hear them and their dog. It wasn't a completely alone in the woods with my partner scenario as a romantic getaway which I thought I was booking. I also asked to use the washer and dryer and was told "no" due to covid, but I'm pretty sure the towels were being washed on site due to the dog hair on them. The thermostat was locked away, and it was really hot in the house. We probably should have emailed to have it adjusted. We also couldn't see the other guest rooms, all but one was locked up, and it would have been cool to see the rest of the house. I think this would be a great place for a family reunion or something. There were many bathrooms, and the public areas of the house were immaculate and full of seats and well lit space. The exterior grounds were also immaculate. Clearly this property is very well loved. As a romantic getaway it wasn't quite what I was looking for, but I can see this being great for a bigger gathering or a less romantic getaway.
