“The Refuge”, a place of “safe accommodation and shelter”. Welcome to our Refuge, a beautiful beachside cottage located on Mirror Cove near the head of Buzzards Bay in Wareham, Massachusetts. Allow yourself to be taken away for a brief respite free from the lights and noise of the city. Enjoy watching the tide come and go from the waterfront deck while you enjoy a snack or a cocktail.
The Refuge is a completely renovated 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom waterfront cottage that is easy to enjoy any time of year. Its principal attraction is unencumbered relaxation. The house is wired with high speed wireless internet. You can listen to music on our high grade bluetooth sound system or simply kick back and read a book, reconnect, enjoy a good meal, or take a long walk by the sea.
Downstairs there is a full bath and modern kitchen with professional gas range. The adjacent cozy living room has a high grade, contemporary gas fireplace that provides warmth and atmosphere as you sit and gaze out over the cove. In warmer months open the double French doors onto the three-season sun porch and deck.
Upstairs are three bedrooms and a luxury bath with soaking tub, heated towel rack, laundry and gorgeous views over the water. Each of these rooms contains soft, adjustable, ambient lighting.
During the spring, summer and fall, the refuge is a good place to access the water that provides calmer conditions than those found in other areas of Buzzards Bay. There are kayaks and stand-up paddle boards for guests to use and the owners can provide information on the best times and locations for paddling under different tide and wind conditions.
The Refuge is located in the town of Wareham approximately 10.2 miles from the Bourne Bridge and Cape Cod. During the summer, guests will enjoy many of the benefits of Cape Cod without the hassles of traffic and crowds. There are a multitude of charming seaside towns within a short drive of the cottage including Onset (4.0 ), Marion (3.0 ), and Plymouth (10.0) and across the bridge, Sandwich and Falmouth. There’s excellent dining and different attractions to be found in each of these areas. There’s great bike riding to be found on the Cape Code Canal trail, hiking and biking in Miles Standish State Park, and of course innumerable locations for fishing, boating and beach going.
We hope you will come and visit our Refuge by the Sea, take some time to wind down just a bit, let the sea air calm you and return to your lives at least a little bit refreshed.

Summary: While the weather wasn't ideal (Hurricane threat), the home was exactly as described. We were "in town" for a wedding in Marion so didn't experience the local offerings. All I can say, the place was comfortable, host was an excellent communicator. All in all, a nice stay!

Summary: very clean, the neighborhood was densely populated but surprisingly quiet and peaceful. beautiful view from patio, it is by the water, but you are not able to use it for swimming b/o a strip of marsh land, No TV in the living room, we had to make a trip to grocery store to buy essential condiments like salt, sugar.

Summary: We have stayed at a few rental properties and I have to say that this is one of those homes that you can actually take an afternoon nap, in the cool shade, on the porch and forget about life’s stresses for awhile. For those of you who are looking for more than the afternoon nap. This property has paddle boards, kayaks, a big enough yard to throw around a football. Close to restaurants, water parks, mini golf and go-carts. So, something for everyone. Michele is an exceptional host, answering any questions we had and letting us know that the lawn maintenance crew would be stopping by. I would recommend this house to anyone looking to rent a home in the Wareham area.

Summary: Michele has updated this vacation cabin beautifully to create an open and inviting space. The back deck and closed in porch are perfect for dining and relaxing. While there is no sand beach on the property, there is a neighborhood beach within walking distance. The only down side was trying to control the humidity in the house. The first few days were unbearable until Michele brought in a dehumidifier for the upstairs area. It helped tremendously, but when the outside humidity is in the 80s and 90s, it is hard to dry out an older house despite everyone’s good efforts. Michele was very responsive and informative whenever we reached out to her with a question or issue.

Summary: The family had a very enjoyable 10 day stay here. The house provided a very comfortable environment with a fantastic waterfront cove view off the back porch. The property was clean, neat and well kept. The kids enjoyed the kayaks and the stand up paddle board. Michele was very responsive to one small request that we made. All in all, this was a fantastic place that suited our needs quite well.

Summary: This house is situated right on a beautiful cove. Sunrises were stunning, visible from the porch, the enclosed veranda, even two of the bedrooms. Very comfortable house, well appointed, with all you need for a delightful stay. The neighborhood is fairly densely settled, but the side lot adjacent to the house makes it feel rather secluded. Lovely!
