Tucked up in the trees in a quiet area, Hakala Hills Retreat is a great location for a relaxing stay. Located just a few miles out of downtown Traverse City, this place is close to everything. This lovely four-bedroom, two-bathroom cabin welcomes up to 10 guests and rents by the month.
The open-concept kitchen gives way to the dining and living room area and is a great place to cook, eat, watch TV, or snuggle up in front of the fireplace. There is one bedroom on the main level, one in the basement, and two upstairs.
The deck off the living/dining area is set up for grilling and relaxing in a peaceful, wooded setting. In the yard, you will find a fire pit.
This area is a quick drive west to the downtown area of Traverse City, heading north and east to Williamsburg, Elk Rapids, and beyond. Turtle Creek Casino is an easy trip from here. East Grand Traverse Bay and the state park are just minutes away, with several public beaches to choose from. There are plenty of food options nearby, as well as shopping and much more! The home is just 7 miles from the Great Lakes Equestrian Festival location.

Wanted time together that did not involve the crowds, or small hotel rooms. This place was awesome!! It had everything we needed to cook the meals that we had planned. (Minus the food) We loved the fire pit at night. The layout of the main living space was perfect for cooking and visiting. Beds were comfy and the whole place was very clean. We plan to come back to this same location in the near future!!!

Summary: Property was perfect for multigenerational vacation. Plenty of hotwater. Clean except for dust bunnies under some beds. Easy checkin and stocked kitchen for cooking. Only complaint is the upstairs stairs, they are the creakiest stairs ever and honestly not well built. We own a historic home and never had stairs like that. We were lucky the kids were tired and didnt hear us come up. They seriously echo. But a beautiful home and nice quiet setting!

There is not a lot of square footage, but the beds were comfortable and the cabin was clean. Fire pit out back was AWESOME to have everyone gather one evening for stories and memories. Quick 10 minute drive to downtown but still felt like a cabin up in the wilderness. Would stay again in a heartbeat!

A few things to keep in mind that I do not think were specified:-charcoal grill, we couldn’t find the charcoal (behind the trash can in closet) and bring a lighter. The louver on the grill needs adjusting it’s tight.-fireplace controls, the bottom fireplace panel folds open-no onsite firewood for firepit-100ft or so of dirt road to get hereThis is a great place, clean, everything worked, no real problems. I would definitely visit again!

Summary: We had a group family fishing trip in Traverse City with 6 men. The house was perfectly located close to the marina and anything we wanted to do in the evenings in Traverse City. The grill was great, the fire pit was awesome, and the kitchen and bathrooms were clean and tidy. It was a huge plus that there were enough comfortable beds for all of us. We loved our stay!
