Summary: Moonshine House is an affordable, clean, comfortable house with everything we needed nestled in a fantastic mid-island location. We are a family of 4 with 2 college aged kids and we stayed a little over a week. This was the perfect base camp for our active family to launch our daily excursions. The location was ideal for easy access to both the north and south ends of the island and is conveniently close to a well appointed grocery store. While the kitchen is not big, it had what we needed for cooking meals and the one bathroom is roomy and had nice new towels. The house has a pleasant view of the water from the front deck, ample air conditioning for hot days and two bicycles for cruising around. What really made our stay special, though, was the kindness, generosity and local knowledge of the house managers, James ("Jimmy") and Cheryl Fox. They went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed in the house and they were an indispensable source of local information for helping shape our daily adventures. If you are looking for an affordable alternative for an active vacation exploring all that Long Island has to offer, Moonshine House is a great option!
