Positive: I loved my room it had a great room and my hosts had carefully selected this one for my needs. The kerosene heaters are fine and not fumy or anything and this is a typical fuel used in regional Japan. Breakfast was sometimes offered. It was a traditional Japanese style meal. Plenty on offer to eat and served in a peaceful dining room. The hosts are very welcoming and pleased to assist with any inquires and are happy to use Translate for non Japanese speakers. Thankyou. As a skier, the location is placed close to the access 'Romance' chairlift and I really enjoyed being is this very quiet township with just enough facilities and perfectly adequate access back to Akakura via the shuttles. I was needing a reset for some life challenges and staying here helped me to be at peace.
Negative: This is a older style guest house and I liked it the way it is.
Summary: This is a hospitable friendly place to stay.

Positive: Clean and warm room. Excellent and friendly Staff. Fabulous Food. It was a 5 minute walk to the "romance" chair. We booked breakfast each morning and one dinner - both were marvellous.
Negative: It would have been nice if there were some clothes-washing facilities onsite, as there is nothing in Suginosawa. Onsite Wifi would also have been nice. Neither of these things were showstoppers.

Positive: A classic, no frills old-school type Ryokan, made special by the elderly couple who run the place. The sweetest, most helpful and accommodating hosts I've ever experienced. Breakfast is of the traditional Japanese kind. Very tasty and very affordable. We travelled with our 2-year old son, and even though we only paid for 2 breakfasts, the hosts made sure to always provide him with some food at no extra charge. They treated him like their grandson. Their kindness, hospitality and generosity was absolutely one of a kind. The Ryokan is a 10 minute walk from the Suginohara lifts, so it's perfect for skiiers.
Negative: Nothing in particular.
Summary: A great little Ryokan with amazing hosts, who make you feel at home!

Positive: Morishigesou is an absolutely lovely place to stay in. The place is really clean and peaceful. Our spacious room has a heater, beddings and linen. It also has a beautiful view of the mountains. They have a dry room for storing snowboards/skis and wet snow gear for the night. Masahiro-san (the owner) is extremely kind and thoughtful, they offered to drive us up to the ski resort base camp (approx. 3min drive) in the morning, due to the closest chair lift being suspended during our stay. Going back is a quick 6-7min walk from the base of the ski resort. There's always hot water, for tea, ready in our room when we come back at the end of each day and they gave us sliced apples on our first night, very thoughtful! Storing our bags on the last day is also not an issue. They even let us wait inside whilst waiting for the bus headed to Myoko-kogen station.

Positive: A classic older style Japanese inn run by a very nice elderly couple. The building has lots of character and comfortable. It was nice and quiet. The location was convenient at the base of the Romance Chair. The effort that was made for the meals was appreciated too. There aren’t many options in Sugi for meals so eating at the inn is definitely a good idea.
Negative: During the winter nights the heater would turn off on a timer. This would leave the room freezing and we needed to get up several times a night to turn the heater back on. Not ideal. It ended up being a source of entertainment and we laughed about it. Overall, this was the only negative for the week’s stay.
Summary: Thank you for the great stay. We would like to come back one day and enjoy your hospitality.

Positive: 1.. host was super helpful, he solved a few of my logistic problems 2. Location was great, 200m to ski lift for suginohara, <100m to local bus ( 1/4 the price compare to ski resort shuttle bus) stop to ikenotaira (the bus stop at an onsen, then easy 7 minutes walk to ski lift). Otherwise the ski resort shuttle is 500m away, can take you to all 4 ski resort nearby 3. Can order dinner for an extra cost. I am sure anyone will leave a full stomach
Negative: Not really
