Negative: Road needs repairs. Grill was nasty and did not work. Decking was covered by leaves. Tripping hazard in several areas in house. Heat and lighting are complicated issues

Positive: Loved the space and the hot tub. 20 mins to Sylva 20 mins to Franklin. The house was big and the kitchen was stocked with all cooking needs. Plus there was a grill. Bed in the primary suite was comfy
Negative: Just be warned the drive up to the house is narrow, windy and bumpy

Positive: This home was beautifully located in a perfect quite spot away from everyone. Home was beautiful and very well maintained and clean! tons of room and easily enough room for 6 people. They allowed dogs and there were accommodations for the pets when we got there like dishes and a kennel.
Negative: It was very cold when we got there. The gas fire place in the main living room kept tripping and would not go on all weekend which made it very cold in the main sitting room with the TV. Because it snowed we decided not to call it in, so there wasn’t a risk of anyone driving up the mountain. To make it colder, we lit the small wood stove in the other room so we could get warmer and it wouldn’t stay lit because the chimney needed to be cleaned. There wasn’t enough air flow. we figured on a 35 degree day, with snow coming in, the heaters would have been on and the home warm on check in. it took about 4 hours to finally warm up, and the day had ended by that point so we felt like we lost a day in the cold.
Summary: We are looking for a home to rent 2 times a year and this one is promising. We came up with great expectations of relaxi

Positive: Loved the mountains, the house was large and well equipped. Lots of outdoor deck and seating areas. Very quiet with virtually no close neighbors. once off the mountain, a short drive to many nearby towns.
Negative: First, please know I lived in these mountains for 11 years. The road leading up to the house is not paved, many sharp curves, sudden drop-offs, and one way; we had a four wheel drive SUV and that in my estimation is the needed vehicle - anything less, especially a sedan or rear wheel drive, would be unsafe. Second, my wife and I slept in the main bedroom, very comfortable with a tv; however, the second night there we started to be bitten at night by something in the bed and both of us had at least a dozen bites that itched severely - it took two weeks for them to subside. Don't know what it was, but it needs attention.
Summary: We had a pleasant time despite the challenging road access and bed bug bites.
