Newly built home on private 11 acres in the beautiful Blaeberry Valley just 15 minutes from Golden. The home features beautiful mountain views in a private setting. Enjoy trails right from your doorstep that lead to the Blaeberry River. Elk, deer, pine marten, eagles, foxes and coyotes are all regular sightings. The house is only 5 minutes from the Trans Canada Highway and 15 minutes from Golden. A great base for skiing at Kicking Horse as well as backcountry skiing in Rogers Pass. The house is set up with two private bedrooms each with their own ensuite, making it ideal for two couples or a family. Kicking back by the woodstove after a day of fun outside, this is the perfect place to relax and unwind in the mountains.

Summary: We all loved our stay at The Golden Goose. The rural location is amazing with beautiful views of mountains and trees. The house itself is absolutely gorgeous, a beautiful mix of modern and wood and art. It is fully equipped with everything you need to make wonderful dinners, watch TV, listen to music, do a laundry, and so on. The kitchen includes most essentials like oil, spices, and vinegar as well as coffee and tea (I am probably forgetting some things). The surrounding property has trails and an outdoor firepit. Plenty of wood is available for fires. At night the stars are just incredible because it it so dark. I just cannot say enough good things about this place. John is a wonderful host and very responsive and helpful. If you are looking to relax and unwind in a bit of rural luxury then this is the place for you. We hope to come back next time we head to the Golden area and stay longer.

Summary: John has thought of everything in this beautifully decorated, well equipped home. If you are looking for a quiet escape, this is the place to be. The upper deck overlooking the woods was my favourite place to be. Thank you!

Summary: This property is simply fantastic. The house itself is absolutely great and John has looked after everything providing the best of the best. The one thing the pictures do not reflect is the spaciousness - it's quite large. We've rented some very nice places in Canada, the U.S. and a couple of European countries and my 14 y.o. son declared this to be the nicest so far within 3 minutes of walking in. The view of the mountain from the second floor deck was stunning each morning. We return to Golden every couple of years because we love the area so much and it's hard to imagine staying anywhere else in future. It really is that nice.

Summary: John's space is a perfect cabin in the woods. The home is very well insulated and cozy and John has thought of everything and is very responsive and proactive about ensuring you're comfortable and having a great time. We enjoyed the space so much it was almost a shame to leave it for the day to go skiing. Internet worked reliably as well which was great as needed to work a couple of the days we were there. Thanks again John, looking forward to renting from you again!

Summary: This was our second visit to this fabulous Blaeberry Valley treasure. It was just as special this time. We used it as a remote working retreat base that allowed us breaks to walk, snowshoe and ski. Everything is kept immaculate as though no one else has ever been there. We can’t say enough about the Golden Goose. We’ll come back in summer to try out another season. Thank you once again John.

Summary: My husband and I needed a pandemic getaway. John's cabin in the woods was that fabulous retreat for 10 days in November. The "mountain modern" cabin is clean, new, stocked with everything you'll need, and absolutely perfectly situated on a beautiful property surrounded by the river, mountains, trees, elk, deer and quiet. The star watching at night was spectacular. The only sounds we heard was a faint train whistle and some distant wolf howls. We walked the trail every day and relaxed by the fire reading and watching Netflix - what more could you ask for.? Unfortunately, we had to do a little work while away, but the internet was great so we had no worries on that front. John was very responsive and checked in on us by email from time to time to ensure we had everything we needed. Advice: Bring your own groceries as Golden's stores are pricier than most. The added bonus is that you won't have to leave the Golden Goose!

Summary: Our 12 day stay at the Golden Goose was what we hoped and so much more. We were looking to be in the wild, to step out our front door and access trails, trees and adventure. We wanted a basecamp that was comfortable and secluded. We got it all. The Golden Goose was steps away from a trail system on private land that rivalled national parks. It was 20 minutes around the Blaeberry river valley, an amazing area where we saw bald eagles, spawning salmon and tracks of bears, wolves and many other feasting on the river's bounty. The forests surrounding the property were peaceful, lush and the perfect mix of feeling like you could get lost, but you couldn't, since the property had clear boundaries that always led you back home. The house itself, the Golden Goose, had all the amenities we needed and in particular the wood stove was the perfect touch. The house was spotless, the kitchen well stocked, the deck was a perfect stage to watch and listen to the forest. The house was filled with light and each window framed a spectacular view. The views of mountains from the main area were as breath taking at the end of our stay as it was at the beginning. John's collection of outdoors books, curious artifacts and art added life to the place. We had our 6 month old with us, and she loved the house, the trails, everything. We'd highly recommend a stay at the Golden Goose and hope to be back there soon.
