Positive: Hotel was well appointed with very comfortable rooms and extensive grounds.

Negative: Two things which really need to be addressed. Not really acceptable to not have wifi in the rooms. I have stayed at more remote places which still have wifi (and more to keep the kid happy) The second thing was that they had a real issue with running out of items in the restaurant. And you get the impression that most dishes are pre-prepared. Like they run out of fries, and you get the impression they are pre-cut and they are unable to freshly prepare. Numerous dishes missing each night. Not really acceptable. Would have scored a 9 if this hadn't been the case.

Positive: My stay at the Mulu Marriott Resort was exceptional. The room was spacious and had a very luxurious feel, with thoughtful touches throughout. I particularly loved the bathtub and the high‑quality amenities provided. The air dryer was excellent, the coffee machine offered Nespresso‑style capsules, and the staff were very attentive in keeping the water bottles and coffee supplies constantly topped up. Even the fridge was well designed — completely silent, which made resting very comfortable. Breakfast was outstanding, with an impressive variety of both traditional dishes and Western options, all fresh and beautifully presented. Dinner was à la carte, and every dish I ordered was well prepared, well presented, and of a consistently high standard.

Negative: What's there not to like?

Positive: We really enjoyed our stay. Beautiful hotel, set right in the rainforest. We could hear the sounds of insects there, and see interesting insects and birds just while walking around the hotel. The breakfast/dinner hall has a beautiful design. Breakfast was good, especially given that you're in the rainforest. They had a Sarawak cultural performance on one of the 3 evenings when we stayed, at 8.30 pm, unfortunately we only saw a part of it as we had a night walk that evening. The free shuttle to/from the airport and the national park is very convenient. The shuttle doesn't have a timetable, but it will run so that you can join the guided walks at the national park (we were asked to come and wait for the shuttle 30 mins before our tour). The shuttle is also available in the evening so that you can join the night walk at the park.

Negative: The tours offered by the hotel are very expensive - we just booked the tours directly with the park HQ (via email, it was easy), it was much better value. The main course for dinners was not very good on 2 out of our 3 dinners, and the salad bar could be improved.

Positive: Everything! Staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful. The resort is beautiful and in an amazing location. The room was spotlessly clean and comfortable. Lovely pool. Great food in the restaurant. Convenient free shuttle to the park and airport with friendly drivers - thank you Donnie and Demond!
