Positive: We absolutely loved Murphy's Thatched Cottage! It's like stepping back in time into Old Ireland but with modern comforts which allowed us to relax and fully enjoy our stay. Only a 10 min drive from Mitchelstown but in the heart of the country so you have both peace and quietness but also the convenience of having everything close by should you need to pop out for something. Highly recommended and we are already planning to come back when the evenings are longer and to stay for two nights instead of one. An absolute gem, thanks Jim and Anne-Marie.

Positive: Pretty much everything: The building itself is so beautifully restored, with such respect for the past whilst making it modern and comfortable. So many unexpected extras were included, from toiletries to snacks to hot chocolate and cream... and the Christmas decorations made it extra cosy! I loved hearing about the history of the building; that it is still looked after so lovingly by the same family is so special. My little welcome note from Jim and Anne-Marie's daughter was gorgeous.
Negative: Honestly, the only slight negative (and I'm stretching to think of one!) is that the mattress was not the most comfortable. That said, it was absolutely fine and I did sleep. It certainly wouldn't put me off going there again and I really do hope to go back!

Positive: We felt how special the place is right away when the owner Jim gave us a tour around the cottage. There are so many stories within the place that we got to explore in the cottage itself and the blog about its history, that Jim left us with. With a personal welcome note from his daughter, a variety of food essentials and a folder full of local recommendations, we felt perfectly setup for the stay. We'd love to come back!

Negative: A bedside table and lamp for the other side of the bed would have been nice, but I managed by moving a chair.

Positive: Jim and Anne were very welcoming and helpful. I had the best breakfast at the place where Jim recommended! The property itself was perfect for a weekend getaway. The room was warm and cosy.
