Positive: Although it was a remote location and minimalistic stay, we really enjoyed the stay and would put it as one of our favourites in Japan. The privacy and Nature are unmatched, and the onsen/ gym facilities are an added bonus that most of the cheaper range hotels don’t have. 10/10 would recommend

Negative: Nothing honestly, hard to fault it!

Positive: The natural setting was lovely, especially the sound of the river flowing over rocks directly behind our bungalow. Checkin staff member was very helpful, providing us with some oil and salt and pepper for cooking. The bungalow was quite spacious.

Negative: The bungalow was listed as having a kitchenette but had only a sink and a kettle. We had to pay extra for a portable stove and frying pan. Fortunately we had our own plates and cutlery with us. The beds were very hard. Listed as bunk beds, we expected mattresses but they were futons on wooden bases. Would have liked chairs to relax on the back deck and a hand rail for safety at the front door.

Positive: Stopped here for the night after a long and tiring day's bike riding in the mountains. Lovely little basic log cabin by a gurgling stream. Two bunk beds, a sink and an enclosed toilet outside on the verandah. As there are no restaurants or shops nearby, the kind and chatty receptionist, who speaks very good English, went to great lengths to get me a microwaveable curry and rice for my dinner and made me a bento style breakfast, so I could make an early start in the morning. Above and beyond!

Positive: The staff was very helpful, excellent communication. The room was ready and warm as we arrived. The onsen was opened just for us as we were the only guests staying there that night. Beautiful cottage on the riverside.

Negative: Sadly, logging was happening nearby and we are not sure if this property will survive that destructive process. The property is built in a green haven. We hope it remains intact for the public to enjoy the wilderness.

Positive: The cabin we stayed in was right by the river and it was a wonderful experience close to nature. Do bring your own food if you choose to venture out here as places around close early. Our host Manon was a lifesaver and had extra rations of food for us starving cyclists, so we managed to have a great dinner at our cabin!
