This beautiful, lodge-style home on over 40 private acres offers a breathtaking view of Virginia's magnificent Blue Ridge Mountains, and is situated smack in the middle of many of Virginia's most visited attractions. The house, full of beautifully mounted wildlife such as deer, bear, elk and more, boasts 5 bedrooms and 4.5 baths. The two and a half story, 4,400 sq ft home features 2 spiral staircases, one to an open loft overlooking the living room, and the second to a charming, private reading nook over the master bedroom suite. There is a spacious formal living room, along with a sunken fireplace room on the main level of the house, both furnished in comfortable, cozy decor. A true country kitchen houses the farmhouse dining table with easy seating for 10. There are additional tables and chairs downstairs in the generous family room which can be used for additional dining space. A large theater area for group viewing offers a 64" screen, and a game area for family fun boasts games, puzzles, Foosball table and a checkers/chess table. Four of the 5 bedrooms boast electric fireplaces, and the main level bedrooms include flat-screen TVs of their own. (Click 'more details' below to read all of description)
The house is complete with a wrap around, rocking chair front porch, and the covered, multi-level back deck offers over 800 sq ft of additional outdoor gathering space. Together with the five separate, ground-level patios, there is outdoor seating for 40 plus, and a fire pit for roasting marshmallows on those cool Central Virginia evenings.
The small, Virginia pond offers catch-and-release fishing, perfect for adults and small children...bring your own fishing gear. A curved bridge leads to the island and pergola near the in-pond fountain, making the perfect setting for photos, small weddings or other outdoor events (per owners approval).
Mountain View Lodge is located 12 minutes from Lynchburg and Liberty University. Within a 20-45 minute drive are nationally renowned attractions such as the Blue Ridge Parkway, Smith Mountain Lake, Natural Bridge, The National D-Day Memorial, Thomas Jefferson's Poplar Forest, Appomattox Court House National Historical Park, Patrick Henry's Red Hill Estate and Snowflex, the nation's only outdoor, year-round snow sports slope, offering skiing, snowboarding and inner-tubing no matter the temperature or weather! This beautiful home is also surrounded by countless scenic drives, tours and Virginia wineries.
Groceries and other necessities, along with dining, shopping and other activities are available in Lynchburg, Appomattox and Rustburg, each a convenient 8-15 minute drive.
Due to the wildlife mounts, and in consideration of future guests' allergies, this is a strictly no-smoking property inside or out, and no alcohol-based events are allowed.
Note: We require a minimum 24-48 hours between guests in order to properly clean, disinfect, restock the lodge and do outside maintenance as needed.

Summary: My family traveled from all over for a get together here and we loved it. My kids loved the house and the puzzles and games. My daughter said multiple times a day she loved the place and wanted to stay. My 2 siblings, all of our spouses, our father, and 3 kids altogether were very comfortable and all enjoyed the house. My wife is talking about getting her family together at this same location for another trip.

Summary: We had a wonderful stay with our four adult children and their spouses (and two grandbabies)! This 5 bedroom house was a perfect place to spend our Thanksgiving week. There was plenty of room for us to have our own space as well as a large living room for family games and family room for watching football. We grilled most every night and enjoyed the beautiful views. The kitchen had everything we needed for our Thanksgiving dinner including a large table to seat us all. It really felt like a home away from home. The hosts were sweet and wonderful to work with! Would definitely stay there again.

Summary: We stayed here for a wedding near by and it was a great fit for our large group. Morning coffee on the back deck and evenings by the fireplace made for some great memories. Communication with the owners was quick and very helpful. It's such a beautiful and peaceful property and we would stay here again!

Summary: Mountain View Lodge is an architectural marvel out in the country. I felt welcomed before I even made it into the front door. The decor is interesting, entertaining, and even educational. I could have easily spent hours exploring all the little nooks if I had the time. The water is tasty, and the water heater works well, as does the thermostat. The wifi is not reliable enough for one to plan to work remotely, it is just enough to make teenagers not blame you for making them unplug for the trip.There are so many fun things to do indoors and outdoors, they won't miss it very long. My only regret is that I had so many other things going on that I didn't spend as much time at the house as I would have liked. It would be perfect for a small retreat or bachlorette getaway, or even a micro wedding. The views are as beautiful as promised, and it is incredibly quiet as well. I would not hesitate to recommend this place to anyone.

Summary: We were a group from a VA college in town for a competition at Liberty. The home was perfect for our group! Well stocked kitchen, beautiful common areas, plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms...and the home itself was unique and interesting! Lots to do during "down" times: firepit, fish pond, patios, full-length porches with lots of seating. It was a peaceful and refreshing location, perfect for group activities and private time. The owners even paid attention to small details, like personalized notes throughout the house, lots of K-cups and little treats, and they were very responsive to questions.it was the best VRBO I've ever had the pleasure to visit! Highly recommended!! Hope to return!

Summary: Our only regret about our stay is that we did not spend more time at the property. The views with the leaves changing were breathtaking and the house was well equipped and had many thoughtful surprises to discover.
