Be prepared for a calming, meditative experience- enjoying the panoramic views of the lake and surrounding hillsides. This comfortable lakefront home with a private dock is the perfect getaway for up to six people comfortably.
Oh My Darlin is the perfect spot to enjoy the coast, be it outdoors oriented (canoeing/kayaking/power boating, hiking miles of trails, beachcombing, photography, fishing, clamming, crabbing, sand dunes, storm watching), or the coastal culture of art galleries, fine dining and dive bars if you feel the need.
The serene setting of the lake and beautiful sunsets of orange, gold and pink are the perfect way to relax and wind down the day of play on the Oregon coast. The two large decks overlooking the forest and water is perfect for enjoying your morning coffee while taking in the sights and sounds of Mercer Lake.
Two kayaks are provided but feel free to bring your canoes and paddle boards and enjoy the waters of Mercer Lake. Test your skills, fishing for that trophy bass, perch or trout or fish for salmon and steelhead in the ocean or numerous nearby rivers and estuaries. It is all here and more.
Mercer Lake:
Boat Launch - There are two public boat launches, First is about 1 mile east on Mercer Lake rd watch for signs on the left. Second and slightly easier option is about 1 mile West on Mercer Lake rd to Bayberry rd turn right then an immediate right onto Archer Ln. Launch is at the end of the road, narrow road so best to back down Archer to water.
Mercer is a good sized lake listed at 341acres on the north side of Florence. Great largemouth bass fishing, yellow perch, bullhead catfish, seasonally stocked rainbow trout and some sunfish as well..
With a boat, you can poke around the long Dowell and Dahlin arms and many small coves and points around the lake. There are standing and fallen trees around the shoreline, as well as a fair number of docks, that add to the potential cover for bass and panfish.
What’s nearby:
This home is a quick drive from multiple access points to the Oregon Dunes and ocean beaches including the popular access just out South Jetty Road. The charming Old Town section of the city is filled with lovely shops, cafes, galleries, and restaurants. You will also be minutes from numerous trailheads for hiking or mountain biking. The coastal forests flourishing in Douglas fir and Sitka spruce extend nearly to the Ocean. Some trails wind up, over, and through sand dunes, offering hikers the opportunity to experience the unique natural wonders of this area.
Take a scenic drive up Hwy 101 to Heceta Head Lighthouse where free tours are offered daily. Get your adrenalin flowing on a nearby dune buggy tour or with an ATV rental, or go crabbing from the Siuslaw Bay public fishing pier at the end of South Jetty road where crabbing is excellent from late spring until the fresh water from winter rains force the crabs out to the ocean.
