Summary: The Red Schoolhouse was just what we were looking for. With a full kitchen and washer & dryer we were able to have a stress free week! My husband and I spent our honeymoon here. The view from the living room window was stunning as the sun went down. A short walk to the lake, that was frozen over at the time, was a great escape. We spent the week playing board games, cooking together, visiting the local shops, and driving around Maine. It really was perfect!

Summary: This is a rustic Maine cabin. But not too rustic. We arrived just after Christmas to visit family in the area and play in the snow. The location was good - across from Piper Pond and a few miles out of town. So we were away from it all but not too far away, 15-20 minutes from the middle of Dover-Foxcroft. I must admit, when we first arrived I thought we might freeze, with a heater in the kitchen and a pellet stove in the living room, and no heat in the bedrooms (all upstairs). But it was plenty warm, upstairs is partially open to the lower level, allowing the heat to rise, so the bedrooms were all very comfortable - as were the beds. All the beds were fitted with electric blankets, but we didn't need them. The cabin was well-equipped with everything we needed, towels and linens included, and Tracy did a great job of leaving helpful notes and tips. We prepared a couple of meals there, and the cabin had everything we needed. The open field in front of the house gave us a wide open expanse to see a billion stars. And there was plenty of room for the seven of us. We had a great time!

Summary: Really enjoyed the cathedral ceiling and the openness of this former school house. Plenty of room for many family members. With an open field and a nearby pond it was great for enjoying the night sky. Despite the tlc that is still needed, I would recommend this little getaway for a nice stress reliever from your everyday life. Thank you for sharing your home with my family.

Summary: Don’t stay here if you prefer finely finished mountain chalets, but if you don’t mind roughing it a little for a glimpse back into history, this is your place. Little rough around the edges, but very comfortable furniture and mattresses, and a fully functional kitchen make for a great place to stay. Perfect for my family while rafting the Kennebec river and exploring Moosehead Lake area. Host was very responsive.

Summary: This was the perfect location to use as a hub for exploring the outdoors. We went fly fishing, boating, swimming at lots of great places, ate pastries from Abbott Bakery, shopping and antiquing, and just hung out and enjoyed family and played games. We were very happy to include our dogs in our family adventure. We look forward to a return visit.
