Summary: Appreciated the security and updated bathrooms and heated flooring. Room was clean. We brought our dog so it was nice to be welcome with an animal. One oddity is not. You may not walk your dog past 9:00 a.m. on the beach walking path per City regulations The parking entrance was low so we had to remove our storage unit on top before we could go in or out of the garage. Wish that was posted on the website. Otherwise everything was fine.

Summary: If you want to take advantage of long walks along the White Rock beach, this hotel's location is 5 out of 5. It is located pretty much at the south end of the beach, you can check when there is a low tide, and walk through the wide beach once the ocean retreats. That said, it is best to keep your expectations low for everything else. The room we stayed in was not renovated (although it matches the photos), it was clean in obvious areas (but try not to look at deep areas too much), and there were no true amenities - I am not sure there was even a filtered water station. When we arrived for check-in, the person who helped us was okay, they had to take a photocopy of my passport (which felt really old-school and raised concerned with privacy controls...), and not much was said about amenities because there truly isn't much. For food options, you would have to walk up the incline to get to White Rock's proper "downtown"-ish area, which is a hike that you should mentally prepare yourself for. Most of the food spots along the beach are - as you can imagine - tourist trap vibes. There were shampoo, conditioner, and body wash available in those large pump containers that hotels usually have, but what they put in there seemed to be so harsh that we could not use them :( The cleaning solution used for the main floor (where a conference room is...) seemed to be also quite harsh on the nose.

Summary: Our (very, very expensive) room was rather dark and gloomy. No ocean view. No hill view. Just the hallway view. This is a satisfactory hotel, but vastly overpriced. The front desk staff was pleasant but curt. The parking charge (C$22) had not been clearly stated. White Rock is nice, and we understand that it is popular in the summer, but this stay was a big disappointment.
