Positive: Polite and friendly staff. Room was large, bed super comfortable and everything clean. Although the hotel kindly advised us in advance that the room didn't have aircon, there was a double window, so even though it was 30° outside, the room stayed cool. Beautifully decorated interior in a historical building.

Positive: The hotel is a great example of beautiful Art Nouveau interior design. The dining room is gorgeous. Location was good, and it was easy to follow the "BLUE LINE" painted on the streets to walk around to see the city sites. The staff was super friendly & helpful. Room was compact & had no luggage storage, but overall comfortable. We were able to unload our car in front of the hotel, and the reserved parking garage was a few doors down.
Negative: The bathroom had a strangely-placed toilet tissue dispenser which had sharp edges & hurt us both, so we had to wrap the entire thing in tissue to avoid cutting ourselves! The tub (as many in Europe) was very high and deep and difficult to get into/ out of.
Summary: Very enjoyable, lovely small hotel. Nice breakfast buffet.

Positive: The convenience of the hotel to the town with bars and restaurants was very good. A beautiful old building built in 1857 and sympathetically modernised
Negative: We were asked to give an approximate time of arrival so that the room could be made ready. We were aware that check in was not until 3pm but advised that our arrival would be between 1.00pm and 2pm. We arrived at 1.30pm. Our room was not ready but would be at 3pm. We got back to the hotel at 3.30pm to be told the room was still not ready. The receptionist said she would speak to someone and try find a room. She offered us water while she tried to sort the problem. The room booked was a classic standard. It was very hot when we entered so we put the aircon on. We tried to get some air into the room but the blinds were down and we couldn't move them. The blind in the bathroom was the reverse it was locked up. We could open the window but obviously not while the bathroom was in use. When the aircon was turned off there was an intermittent whiring noise. Our sleep was the worst we ever had. We couldn't have the aircon on because of the noise. We could have the windows open but there was intermittent noise which sounded like various machine noises. There was no fridge and only one warm bottle of water between 2 of us. The pillow was very lumpy. I had a stiff neck the following morning. I got the feeling that there was a problem with the room that was booked and we were given a basic room which was the only one that opened onto the inner court yard. The breakfast was very minimal. We have stayed at many hotels in France and the breakfasts have always had plenty of choice. There was not even ordinary tea. I am very disappointed as the hotel itself was a lovely building. I did not think it was worth the money. I did mention most of the above to the receptionist when checking out who did not charge us for the car parking.
Summary: Disappointing stay which was the last night of our holiday
