Summary: We were two families, total of 8 people who visited this house one week. The house was very big, with four decent sized bedrooms. There were also 3 very nice bathrooms with excellent showers. Ron and Dick were very helpful and kept the pool in pristine condition at all times. The pool suits both old and young people and helped us keep cool in the very warm weather. I also managed to find what has to be one of the worlds best spots for our hammock. The house is a bit far from the nearest bakery which is in town. This is a 40 minute walk or 15 minute drive. Prats de Mollo is worth several visits though!

Summary: We loved the self-catering accommodation, which was beautifully but simply furnished, with a well-equipped kitchen and convivial dining area. Our hosts were helpful, informative and never intrusive. They pride themselves, quite rightly, on the well-chosen decor and the clean, orderly standard of presentation. We enjoyed the company of their well-behaved pets on the terrace from which we took in the spectacular views. We swam in the pool and walked the footpaths around the property. Prats de Mollo is a charming town with pleasant bars and restaurants, a helpful tourist office, a well-stocked grocery store and a market on Fridays. The drive up to Maison Xatart from the town was a bit of a challenge, due to the road surface having suffered during winter rains. However, we gather it is due to be repaired in the near future, so this will not be an ongoing problem. We would recommend this property to our friends, and would certainly visit again.

Summary: A beautifully renovated farmhouse and cottage in a beautiful surrounding! We have visited Prats de Mollo many times and will continue to do so. We especially enjoy the sounds of barking deers, birds and the peace and quiet of the mountains. Thank you to our wonderful hosts Dick and Ron for making us feel at home time and time again.

Summary: We have spent one week with Dick and Ron at their beautiful farmhouse. We stayed in La Camelia. The accommodation was very nice and spacious. The hosts are very friendly and helpful. They help you with finding nice trails for hiking, biking and motorbiking. The region is nice for motorbiking. Nice asphalt, many bends and beautiful views. We made a beautiful tour of 270 Km, with only 5 Km without curves. Fantastic! We also did a very nice hike from the farmhouse to the village Prats de Mollo and back. A nice walk over the hill and through the forest. In the little village you have enough terraces for a drink and relax a little. The food is good, and there is even Wi-fi on most of the terraces. Doing 'nothing' the whole day is also a good possibility. Sun and swimming pool, and there is always something to see: the nice little dogs and other animals or sometimes some deer or swine in one of the fields surrounding the farmhouse. We've really enjoyed ourselves. So, Till next time!! Marcel and Nicole

Summary: Mas Taillet was, without a doubt, the most beautiful guesthouse we have ever stayed in. The landscape is simply breathtaking and the house itself is gorgeous: rural, with all the facilities you need. The owners are very nice and helpful. Allthough they live there, we never had the feeling we were 'visitors'. Ron and Dick know how very well how to mix their lives, their work and the guests privacy and wellbeing. The only disadvantage I can think of was the long, small, mountain road going down to the village, which leads to the nearest supermarket. But to be honest, that's exactly what makes this place so special: the house and the landscape are pretty remote, but you'll never feel lonely. And the drive down to the sweet village at the foot of the mountain is, to say the least, worth your trouble. :) I'd recommend this place to anyone. We went with our son, who was 5 months at the time, and 5 other family members and had a fantastic week. Admittingly, the weather was great and that helps ofcourse! Regards, Wim, Ilse and Gijs

Summary: We really enjoyed our stay at Mas Taillet, especially the sunny breakfasts outdoors overlooking the valley. We felt very much at home, being looked after and catered for by our wonderfully caring hosts Dick and Ron. We enjoyed some lazy days at the pool, cultural activities (such as the Dali museum in Figueras) as well as the numerous traces the Cathares people left all over Catalunia. There are countless beautiful villages and walking trails just at a stones throw from Mas Taillet. We already had fallen in love with the surroundings, but we know for sure now that it will be in Mas Taillet where we will be staying the next time.

Summary: After a couple of years of short vacations, we thought it would be nice to have a long relaxing vacation in France. Since we heard a lot of good stories about the Mas Taillet mansion of Dick and Ron, we thought let's give that a try. After booking way in advance, time flew by, filled with work, hobbies, tasks, etc. etc. Since we both like mountain hiking and motorbike riding, a lot of stuff got packed inside our car and on a trolley both motorbikes were secured. Driving down the payage is not difficult at all, and we started to relax a little already. after 1 and a half day of driving, the final ascent to Mas Taillet was the most challenging, but we got there! With a lot of help from both Dick and Ron, we have experienced a beautiful vacation. Not so action packed as it could have been (with all the different activities possible in the surroundings), but boy, did we relax!! No phone (switched off), no laptop (left it at home), no tv, just a radio. And all of a sudden you experience a whole lot of spare time. In a nice surrounding @ 30 degrees Celsius. Yes, we did ride our motorcycles, yes, we did do some (mild) hiking, yes we did perform some sight seeing, but also, yes, we did sleep in, yes we did sunbathe, yes we did swim and yes, sometimes all I needed was a cigar in the sunset @ appr. 1000 mtrs altitude in the Pyrénées. All in all, it was a vacation where we could do a lot, but didn't have to do a thing. If you know what we mean... ;-) With the farm life and a swimming pool nearby, a sunbathing terrace for our own pleasure, 2 very good hosts and a lot of sun, we really enjoyed our 2 weeks of Mas-Taillet, Prats de Mollo, Mediterranean sea, Beget, Collioure, and everything else! After the 2 weeks, it was hard to get back to civilisation, but every once in a while, we look at each other and say, let's go back there! Must see: Beget, Collioure, Ceret on a market day, Prats de Mollo. Nice to see: Mediterenean beach, gorge de la Fou Must do: Dick's motorbike tour. As a final note we would like to wish both Dick and Ron all the best and rest assured, we will visit you again!! Kind regards from Schoonebeek (NL), Dries & Inge

Summary: We had a great family holiday in Aug 2011. Mas Taillet is in a superb location with outstanding views overlooking the small town of Prats De Mollo. The area is excellent for hiking and mountain or road biking with plenty of impressive peaks. Pratts de Mollo has all the facilities on hand i.e. supermarket, cafes, bars and restaurant (Les Relais is recommended) as well as a 16th century fort where every afternoon there are free, all action displays. Mas Taillet itself is an excellently equipped gite occupying a prominent position above the town. Dick and Ron are superb hosts, catering for all their guests needs and wants along with their 6 Jack Russell terriers (Micky, Sasha, Nora, Bobo, Max & Snoopy). The swimming pool is a decent size (10m x 5m) and Dick and Ron have plans to add a sauna and steam room off the pool area at some point in the future. The coast is approx 45 miles away and the drive takes just under an hour to Argeles sur mer where there are a number of outstanding beaches (very busy in August though). The town of Collioure is very pretty, with a sheltered harbour and pebble beach that swimmers can use. In summary, Mas Taillet is highly recommended for both outdoor enthusiasts or pool dwellers/sun worshippers.

Summary: When you drive to Prats-de-Mollo, via the D115, you really ask yourself where this will end! Every 100 metres, the environment gets more and more beautifull. When finally arriving in Prats, you have to drive the way up to Mas-Taillet. Typical for this environment, this way-up! Very nice. The stay at Mas-Taillet is even better as what you already could expect from the pictures. And not unimportant: a clean house ! The stay, the location, the environment are in 1 word: fabulous. You can easily drive around, or search for places, difficult to reach, where you can wander more than enough routes. Also mountain-biking is very nice, though enervating :) Spain is a few kilometres away. You can even walk/bike to Spain (also by car ...) Camprodon & Beget are recommended, as well as Collioure (Fr). But if you want to stay at Mas-Taillet, you can take a long chair and read all day at the swimming pool, enjoying the nice view from there. A little word about the hosts: Very nice, you can ask them anything, they will always help you to find out what to do today! They are a very well addition to Mas-Taillet, but you can also say this the other way around ! We can only recommend Mas-Taillet!
