Negative: Very old fashioned - paint chipped on bedroom door. Dark wooden furniture, again evidence of scratches/ damage.

Positive: It has genuine old-world charm and the facilities are top class. Each member of staff treated us with a warmth which was genuine. They each seemed very happy to be working at this hotel. This extended to the Town Hall Restaurant where we ate a sumptuous dinner. The display of original Irish artworks was exceptional and underlined the lengths to which the hosts go in giving patrons only the best!
Negative: I’ve given this matter some thought and I’m drawing a blank!!
Summary: I’ve never felt so at home in an Irish hotel than I felt in The Old Ground!

Positive: Beautiful hotel, had a little problem with the air conditioning & the staff moved us & upgraded us. There is nothing bad I can say about staff unbelievable helpful & accommodating.

Positive: Breakfast was fantastic. Location was amazing. The bed and pillows were super comfortable. TV was easy to use and to link with my Netflix account so that I could watch my favorite shows/movies to wind down. On site parking was a great bonus.
Negative: The room was a bit warm and there was no fan. To make the room a cooler temperature I cracked open the window, but there was some kind of construction going on out back that carried on until midnight and resumed again at 6 a.m. It made it very difficult to geet a good night's sleep.
Summary: Overall a great spot, but would be better with a fan/white noise machine.

Positive: Barbara on reception was so friendly and helpful on arrival and we got upgraded to a junior suite which was a lovely treat for us as my friend was celebrating her 50th birthday. I also saw Barbara handle a disgruntled customer beautifully by offering to change her room to a more convenient location for her and escorting her to the new room also. In fact, the entire staff were so polite and friendly overall. The hotel decor is also very nice with beautiful art and old black & white photos around. The beautiful open log fire and cosy sofas in the lobby are delightful. But the absolute icing on the cake is how central the location is right in the centre of town with ample parking and a choice of two dining options on site as well. We ate in the Town hall restaurant one night and in the bar area another night and service and food were great on both occasions. It was also a fab location for doing a daytrip around The Burren.
Negative: I actually could not fault this hotel and look forward to a return visit in the spring.

Positive: We were booked into The Old Ground at the beginning and end of a tour. Our beginning stay was in an excellent room on the 5th floor. Our ending stay was in a mediocre room on the 2nd floor. This room colored our rating of the hotel. Overall, the included breakfasts offer a wealth of foods, well served by attentive wait staff. The evening meals were excellent. The attached bar was great, the reception staff very helpful with local bus information. The hotel is a short walk from the bus station so accessing public transportation to the airport was a breeze.
Negative: The set of small lobbies curtail medium sized groups for gathering. The big dinner hall would benefit with some acoustic tiles. Getting to the rooms on the parking lot side of the building takes practice and that second room (perhaps in an older part of the hotel? Not from 1895 :>) was less sound-proofed and less comfortable.
