Summary: We had a fantastic time in this beautiful home. It’s in a perfect location; very walkable to so much that Lyon has to offer. It was very comfortable for our party - two adults our three kids (ages 15, 15, and 10). (Do note there is walking up hills or stairs, so may be a bit difficult for someone with mobility challenges). We absolutely loved our stay, and can’t recommend this home enough. Thank you!

Summary: If you want an unparalleled view over the rooftops of Vieux Lyon, admire original terra cotta floors, wooden beams and plaster walls, consider this listing! It is very old with it’s peculiarities- both W/Cs are on the main level; one outside the main bedroom and the other off the kitchen. The second main bedroom, a large family bath/ shower room and a great kids’ area/playroom/bedroom are on the lower level. There is no toilet on the lower level. The furnishings are eclectic- ranging from mid-century modern light fixtures to the wash basin in the second toilet which my husband and I could not agree if it was a sink or not. The fridge, induction stove/ oven and dishwasher are modern. Emmanuelle is a lovely lady who was very approachable and freely offered her help and recommendations. This is clearly a well loved family home, a little long in the tooth, with little quirks - but it is not for those who demand a sterile domicile! Merci, Emma!

Summary: Our family had a wonderful time at Emma's unique apartment in Old Lyon. We greatly enjoyed the beautiful view, relaxed accommodation and wonderful garden. The apartment was spacious, clean and well-stocked. The beds were very comfortable. Emma was very easy to contact and gave us wonderful suggestions for restaurants and local attractions. As other reviewers have noted, the stairs can be a challenge, but this apartment is worth the climb!

Summary: We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Emmanuelle's home. The home has a lovely living room with amazing views, full kitchen, three large bedrooms, a garden/terrace that was in bloom and offered the best breath taking views. There are 8 flights of stairs or a large hill to climb to get to the home, but it is well worth it. The home is located on the Montee de Gourguillon and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Walk to the ancient Theater of Fourviere and admire the views atop the city. So much history close by to absorb! Emma was a very gracious host and we hope to come back again someday.

Summary: This is quite a unique property and we really enjoyed staying in a historical area of Lyon. The house was clean and as listed and the view is priceless! Def be aware there are many stairs which might be an issue for less mobile folks, but if you're adventurous and willing to sweat a little bit this is a great spot to stay.

Summary: We had a wonderful week in Lyon with our adult children. This property is in a superb location, although you do need to be reasonable fit to manage the 140+ steps (which are part of a Traboules - so interesting in themselves). However it is worth it, because it is such a lovely setting. We hadn't expected the wonderful view we would have from the three large windows in the sitting room, which was a lovely surprise. It was beautiful both by day and night. It is well located (within a UNESCO world heritage site) close to lots of interesting sites, museums and next to the metro station. We were very well looked after by Helene, Emma's friend, who was very helpful. Many thanks

Summary: This host and this apartment taken together were one of the best travel experiences we have ever had. First, the apartment. We were travelling with our two adult kids and their significant others. We each had our own bedroom and shared the giant beautiful bathroom and separate toilet. The kitchen and living space, and all the rooms for that matter, look out high above the city of Lyon facing the morning sun. The living/dining room is really big and we were able to entertain all of our son's friends (he was a student for a semester in Lyon). The apartment is located on one of the old "taboules" or passageways from one street to another. Only this one is many stories high. You can park above the apartment and approach from the top, coming down two flights to get to the apartment. Or you can walk up from the middle of Vieux Lyon - seven flights up! We are in our 50s/60s but in reasonably good shape and did it at least twice a day. It is a beautiful stairway/passageway some of which dates back to the Renaissance! Now, about Emmanuelle (Emma). This is her home and she also has a smaller apartment one story below. When she has guests like us who need more space, she moves down to the lower apartment with her 8 year old twins. So the apartment has lots of books and toys tucked away. It would be perfect for kids. She has a whole basket full of guide books and maps about Lyon that we found very helpful. She was happy to give us directions and if there was a problem, she was on the spot to fix it. I felt like I had made a new friend. Her English is perfect, but we tried our French on her too. She defines graciousness. The kitchen is well equipped and we were able to cook a lot. Emma also left us bread, butter, jam and coffee. The confiture was very good. We were there in winter, but there is a lovely outdoor garden, also overlooking the city. If what defines a good rental is comfort, you are going to feel perfectly at home in this place. Wonderful
