Positive: The bed was super comfortable and the backyard was very mellow to hang out in at the end of the day. We also loved the chirping frogs. Breakfast was bagels with cream cheese, granola and yogurt, coffee and fresh fruit.

Positive: Beautiful house with pool and fish pond walking distance to the front surfers beach. It’s near Hilo centre and Akaka falls. The owners Sue and Steve will go beyond to help anything you need.
Negative: From near dawn there will be continued loud birds frogs sounds outside the window until into midnight. There is a major cemetery just outside the property at the Main Street.

Positive: Orchid tree is exceptionally beautiful, totally solar powered with a beautiful pool, hot tub and landscaping, a large lanai for relaxing and the room is truly large with lounge able furniture , pristine clean. Many places we’ve stayed give you pictures that don’t really represent the place when you arrive. However orchid tree is wonderful as are the hosts, both friendly and responsive ! Breakfast was just fine with fresh fruit, yogurt, granola and a good selection of Juices , breads, cream cheese, etc as well as freshly ground coffee. (Plenty for us but if you are an egg type there’s always places in town). But the lanai, the waves crashing, the superb coffee, we didn’t need more!

Positive: The property was stunning and inviting, located in a highly convenient area. The hosts were incredibly hospitable, offering a delightful variety of breakfast options. I particularly enjoyed the fresh, locally grown fruit in season. Having parking available on-site was an added bonus.

Positive: Loved this place! We stayed in the 'garden suite'. It was clean, spacious and homey with a large living area that came complete with a piano! We slept well in our comfortable bed that was fitted with very soft sheets and perfect pillows as we were serenaded by the lovely sounds of the jungle (birds and frogs!). Our room opened onto the patio where there was a spa that overlooked a lush garden and pool. The spa was nice, but the pool was a bit chilly. Breakfast was adequate with an assortment of fruit, cereal, bagels and cream cheese. No real protein, but there was a microwave where we heated up a store bought egg dish. (We had our own refrigerator in the room). Location-wise, it was on the outskirts of Hilo and a quick trip into town for food and activities. It was also not too far from a popular beach that was a nice walk through the neighborhood. Checking in was a breeze and overall it was a very pleasant few days. Everything from the room decor, to the patio and garden showed pride of ownership with the intent to create a pleasant atmosphere. I would easily stay here again. PS in contrast, after our visit to the Orchid B&B, we stayed in Kona. All we got was a room with a small kitchen. The Orchid offered so much for only a few bucks more.
Negative: Maybe offer some boiled eggs for breakfast. Otherwise, everything was great.

Positive: The B&B is very well located. Very close to Hilo but a little secluded. Room was very comfortable and spacious. Common area was spacious as well. The whole place feels very calm and private. Hosts were were welcoming and helpful. Breakfast was good. I really loved their sustainability approach. Highly recommended.
