Positive: Beautiful apartment with everything you need. In fact the kitchen is incredibly well stocked with utensils. Lovely little balcony with a view over the bay. Met the owner Iliana who was very joyful and rightly proud of the accommodation

Negative: Had to wait for over three hours in Livadia village before I could gain access. Think I was dealing with booking agent in Athens rather than the hosts though when communicating

Positive: Livadia is full of accommodation: pensions, hotel rooms, studios, apartments. Why does this place stand out? First, because of the hosts, who live below, and who are unfailingly helpful, happy, and generous, in too many ways to mention. From the very first moment when they insisted on lifting our heavy suitcase up the stairs, they really made our stay special. They also helped us by being flexible when our ferry arrival and departure times didn't quite fit the advertised check in and check out. Second, because it's a home, of which the hosts are proud - this also means for instance that the kitchen is better stocked with plates/ glasses / utensils than many purpose-designed places. There are plenty of power sockets and the wi-fi works well. Third for the location - within 50m of the central square but in a quiet car-free lane, within 400m of good swimming, and within 100m of the port. Fourth - the view. The images here can't really do justice to the full panorama, The top floor terrace is great for watching the sunrise with a coffee, admiring the view of the bay, watching the chaos unfold as a ferry docks just below you, enjoying a drink as dusk falls, or a nightcap under the stars.

Negative: Some clarifications - The private roof terrace (white railings in the pictures) is reached via a path and stairs at the rear of the property, rather than completely internal. It is overlooked by other properties, if that bothers you, but they would just be jealous of you. Just wave at them :-) The apartment otherwise is all on one floor. And there's no washing machine in the property - the host will do it for you in her property. Also, when I refer to hosts above, I meant Yoryios and his family who live there - the people you deal with via booking.com / messages are far more formal in their communication. The one challenge we didn't solve, even with a fan, was how to get the cool air from the air conditioner in the lounge through to the bedroom, but it's entirely likely that this is our lack of imagination rather than an intractable problem.

Positive: We loved everything! It was immaculately presented and exceptionally clean. The property had everything we needed, including extra things like chairs for the beach, hair dryer and beach towels. The views from the property are stunning overlooking the bay. The balcony is great with a table, 2 chairs and a sun umbrella - the sunrise and sunset views were beautiful! There is a small garden and a roof terrace which we didn’t get around to using. The location is quiet and yet only 1 minute’s walk from the main square and 2 minutes from the harbour and beach. The owners are friendly and welcoming. We stayed here for 6 nights and wish we had booked longer! We are already planning our return to this beautiful island and will definitely book to stay here again.
