Positive: The hot tub, it helped with the extreme hot weather/heat wave. The owner was helpful and brought an umbrella and helped with the hot tub and barbecue. The location and surrounding countryside was lovely and two good pub within walking distance. The site has a lovely cafe and the food and drinks are excellent. Overall the lodge is well equipped and quiet within a nice setting.

Negative: It was difficult to cool down. There was one fan and it was noisy. I am glad I brought my own fan. There were some key cooking items missing. It was difficult to ventilate the property because of the flies/mosquitoes. It would have been helpful to have an information booklet at the property ie how to use the hot tub, short cuts and walks to the pubs , village etc, facilities available on site ie prices etc , opening times and availability . There were problems getting information about the property because I booked with booking.com and Sykes holiday info was limited because I did not book with them.

Positive: The property has everything you could possibly need in a quiet lovely area. Although the garden is not fully enclosed, there is plenty of privacy as long as the other guests from the cabins nearby are not near the river at the front.

Negative: Although we have made a request to arrive between 8-9PM and even got an email back confirming that the host is aware of our arrival time and has confirmed it, no one was at the property on our arrival and we found ourselves stuck in front of the gates with no signal on a rainy evening. An hour later, the host made his way to our car and eventually let us in, after being greeted with “A bit late, innit?”. We just found it disappointing because of the confirmation email we received after our request and a long drive of 2 hours. We enjoyed our relaxing stay, but getting into the property on our first night there caused a lot of not needed stress and chaos.

Positive: Well equipped accommodation in quiet spot in rural Rutland. Two nice pubs a 20 min walk away. Big outside space with fire pit, hot tub. Friendly, helpful host.

Negative: There is occasional noise from nearby railway line.
